24 January 2026 – The State Security and Peace Council (SSPC), Myanmar’s military junta, conducted aerial bombardments in Khuafo village, Thantlang township, at approximately 10:30 pm last night.

The junta’s jet fighter dropped at least three bombs, resulting in damage to a school and a stone monument. The monument had been erected in memory of villagers killed in earlier airstrikes by the then-State Administration Council (SAC).

No casualties or injuries were reported following the latest attack.

A villager, quoted by the Chin Post, stated that the bombs landed on the outskirts of the village, causing widespread fear. Residents fled into the jungle for safety and were forced to spend the cold night sleeping outdoors. They are currently afraid to return to their homes.

Khuafo, a small village located about five miles from Thantlang town, has been previously targeted by the military. On 30 March 2023, Myanmar military junta airstrikes in the village killed nine villagers and injured approximately 20 others.

On 14 August 2023, the village was bombed again by Myanmar’s military junta, causing damage to the Khuafo Baptist Church and several residential houses.

Thantlang town itself has been largely burnt down by the Myanmar military and remains a contested area between junta troops and local defence groups.#
