18 December 2025 – The Chin Brotherhood has officially joined the newly formed Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA), which publicly announced its establishment on Monday.
The SRA is a coalition of 19 anti-regime organizations committed to abolishing the military dictatorship and establishing a federal democracy in Myanmar.
The process to form the SRA began in May 2025 with coordination among seven revolutionary forces. An initial meeting of 14 groups took place in early November, leading to a three-day conference starting 21 November, which led to the formal establishment of the 19-member alliance.
Today, the National Unity Consultative Council (NUCC) issued a statement, expressing their warm welcome and support for the formation of the Spring Revolution Alliance (SRA).
Comprising People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) from across Myanmar and various ethnic armed groups, the alliance’s primary goals are to abolish the dictatorship, institute a federal democratic system, and put an end to the military junta’s war crimes and human rights violations.
The 19 groups have fought alongside ethnic armed groups in Chin, Shan, and Rakhine States. The alliance includes ethnic Bamar, Chin, Karenni, Mon, Danu, and Pa-O armed groups, notably the Chin Brotherhood.
Recently, the Chin Brotherhood (CB) Alliance held talks with leaders of the Arakan Army (AA) and its political wing, the United League of Arakan (ULA), including AA commander-in-chief Major General Twan Mrat Naing. The discussions focused on expanding their existing strong military cooperation to include political and economic alliances.
The SRA has expressed its commitment to creating an effective chain of command and coordination, vowing to fight together to end the military dictatorship, establish a federal democratic system, and shield the people from the junta’s crimes and rights violations.
The alliance also seeks to unify military and political efforts and create a more effective, alliance-wide mechanism.
Political analysts suggest that the formation of the SRA could lead to more coordinated operations on both the battlefield and political fronts of the Spring Revolution. – Reporting by Ben
