6 November 2025 — A coordinated mine attack by local defence forces resulted in the deaths of at least five soldiers and injuries to ten others belonging to the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) in Tedim township yesterday.
The SSPC military column, moving from their recently recaptured base on Kennedy Mountain toward Taingen village, was struck by a remotely-detonated mine, according to local sources.
The ambush occurred near Thuklai village, targeting a column from Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 269 based in Tedim town as it advanced towards Taingen along the Kalay-Tedim road.
The SAC troops recently managed to retake their former base on Mount Kennedy, which had been previously seized by local defence groups.
In late October, SSPC forces launched a significant advance from Kalay town toward the Siyin area and Taingen village in northern Chin State. Reinforcements, including troop deployments via helicopter, were also observed in Tedim town.
Currently, the column that advanced from Kalay town is positioned in Mualpi village in the Siyin region, while the column descending from Tedim town has established an operating base on the strategically vital Kennedy Mountain.
In a separate incident on the same day, intense fighting erupted after joint local forces launched an offensive against Hanthawaddy Pyusawhti (Pro-SSPC militia) groups in Gangaw township, Magway Region, situated on the Kalay–Gangaw highway.
On 24 October 2025, CHRO released a statement, arguing the international stakeholders for coordinated action as the military junta set up a coordinated military operations plan in Chin state ahead of the sham election scheduled in the last week of December 2025.
The SSPC military reportedly deployed aircraft during the engagement. – Reporting by Daniel
