Kalay, Sagaing Region, 17 October 2025 – Myanmar’s military junta, also known as the State Administration Council (SAC), has been sending a number of additional troops into Kalay town more significantly since yesterday, 16 October 2025.
Military planes were spotted landing at Kalay Airport at least five times, bringing in an estimated 450 new soldiers.
Local reports indicate that at least 11 military trucks, filled with soldiers, were seen heading towards the northern parts of Kalay town. This movement has caused concern among the local communities.
Reinforcements have been a continuous process for the SAC, not just a recent development, according to a Kalay resident who monitors military situations and spoke anonymously to Khonumhtung News.
Analysts suggest that the SAC, recently renamed the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), is preparing for widespread attacks in areas where it plans to hold elections before December 2025.#
