Chin Celebrities to Raise Fund for Church Building in Australia

01 August 2012: Burma’s famous Chin singer Sung Tin Par arrived in Melbourne, Australia last Monday to raise fund for the Melbourne Chin Church (MCC) building.

Sing Tin Par will be joined by other Australia-based Chin vocalists and musicians during the ‘MCC Gospel Concert’ on 4th and 18th this month.

Among the local musicians is Mai Dawt Hlei Hniang, a famous sensational vocalist who recently moved to Australia after being married to her Chin boyfriend there earlier this year.

An announcement by the concert organizers said Sung Tin Par was invited to perform at the events according to the agreement by the Melbourne Chin Church.

The first gospel concert is to take place in Adelaide this Saturday while the second is planned in Melbourne on 18 August 2012.

The two Chin female singers previously paired up to raise funds for victims of the Chin food crisis by participating in aid concert tour across Europe, America, Asia and Australia in 2009.

More than 4,000 Chins are estimated to be currently living in Australia, with the majority having arrived as refugees from Malaysia and India under the UNHCR Resettlement Program.
