Bible Knowledge Competition Held in Tahan

18 September 2011: About 150 members from a total of 15 churches yesterday participated in a Bible knowledge competition held at a Methodist Church in Mission Block of Tahan, Kalay Myo, Sagain Division.

The event organised by iLoveMyanmar in collaboration with Kalay Council of Churches and Myanmar Bible Society involved a variety of competitions including reciting Bible verses and an exam of Bible Quiz, according to Chinland Today.

In an overall result, Sizang Baptist Church won the first prize (300,000 kyats), with Assembly of God Church from Taungphila in the second place (200,000 kyats) and the third (100,000 kyats) taken by Kalay Baptist Church.

A town at the confluence of he Chindwin River and the Myittha River and the administrative seat of Kalewa Township in Sagaing Division, Tahan has got over 50 churches, with 99 percent of its populuation being Christian.

It is estimated that thare are more than 200,000 Chins living in Sagaing Division scattering all over 28 townships, according to a Chinland Guardian interview with Chin Affairs Minister of Sagaing Region, Pu No Than Kap.
