24 July 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out airstrikes on the eastern part of Kanpetlet township in southern Chin State on 23 July.
Local sources reported that two fighter jets took off from Naypyidaw’s Ela Air Base and conducted three bombing runs at around 4:00 pm, dropping a total of six bombs in the eastern area of Kanpetlet.
The extent of any casualties or damage was not immediately known.
On 16 July, the Myanmar military also carried out airstrikes on Kanpetlet using two fighter jets, which conducted three bombing runs and dropped six bombs. The military also used Y-12 aircraft in the attacks.
The Myanmar military has continued its ground and aerial offensives since 16 May in an attempt to regain control of Kanpetlet town. Fighting between the military and local resistance forces remains ongoing. – Reporting by Ben
