27 March 2026 — Two days of fighting in Ngaphe township, Magway Region, have reportedly left 20 soldiers from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) — the ruling military junta — dead.
The Chin Defence Force (CDF-Asho) issued a statement on 26 March claiming that the casualties occurred during a coordinated overnight attack on 25 March.
The clashes began as an SSPC military column of over 50 troops advanced toward the Mann Chaung (Kyaung Nwe Thoe) dam area from a base located near a forest monastery west of Ngaphe town.
The CDF-Asho, operating alongside the National Solidarity Army (NSA), targeted junta troops who had temporarily positioned themselves approximately 900 meters east of the dam’s spillway around midnight.
According to the resistance groups’ statement, 20 junta soldiers were killed, and at least five others were injured in the engagement. These figures have not been independently verified.
