17 March 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) has delivered weapons, ammunition, and rations to Infantry Battalion (50) in Gangaw using a Mi-17 helicopter.
According to local sources, drone surveillance has also been observed over the town and nearby areas.
Residents reported that at around 2:00 pm on 15 March, a Mi-17 helicopter landed at Artillery Battalion (371), east of Gangaw, to deliver supplies. The helicopter stayed briefly before departing eastward.
Due to difficulties in ground transport, the military is relying on airlifts to support the battalion. On 10 March, a Mi-17 also delivered university entrance exam papers and salaries for government staff to the same location. In recent months, around 15 troops, including a column commander from Division (99), were airlifted to reinforce the unit.
Since 11 March, military personnel from Artillery Battalion (371) have carried out daily drone surveillance over the eastern and northeastern parts of Gangaw Township. Sources said trained personnel have returned and are now providing drone operation training within the unit.
Local reports suggest that troops from the Infantry Battalion (50) may soon launch a clearance operation toward the western areas of Gangaw Township. A resistance member warned that the operation could include air support and urged civilians to remain alert.
The 16 March marks one year since military forces seized Aung Myin (Shauk Pin) village and established a security base.
Currently, the military controls limited positions in Gangaw township, including Infantry Battalion (50), Artillery Battalion (371), Aung Myin (Shauk Pin) outpost, and Myittha Dam security camp, along with some pro-military villages in the north.
Resistance forces continue to carry out attacks using heavy weapons and drones, while the military responds with airstrikes. – Reporting by Ben
