12 March 2026 – The Chin Defence Force-Hakha (CDF-Hakha) has issued a formal apology after an incident on 7 March in which its personnel struck 16 youth travellers with sticks at a checkpoint in Hakha township, Chin State.

The group admitted to a lapse in operational procedures. According to their statement, 13 youths were struck twice each, and three others were struck once.

Following the incident, both the CDF-Hakha and the affected youths met to discuss the matter. The CDF-Hakha formally acknowledged its mistake and apologized.

The youths accepted the apology, stating, “We regret that such an incident occurred among ourselves. Let this serve as a lesson to exercise caution in the future and to prevent similar incidents from happening to others.”

The reconciliation, which included handshakes, resulted in a peaceful resolution. The travellers were en route to congratulate a newly ordained Pastor in Farrawn village, Hakha township.

CDF-Hakha reaffirmed its dedication to national liberation and respect for the public, urging the community to maintain constructive dialogue for the welfare of the nation. – Reporting by Daniel
