Two Jet fighters conduct airstrike on northern Gangaw township

26 January 2026 –The State Security and Peace Council (SSPC) carried out an airstrike on a location in the northern part of Gangaw township, Magway Region, on the night of 25 January.

The attack involved two Yak-139 jet fighters that reportedly took off from Tada-U Air Base. The aircraft dropped three bombs on the area despite the absence of any active clashes.

According to Yaw Alinn Tan, the first jet fighter dropped one bomb at approximately 9:44 pm. The second jet fighter later returned and dropped one bomb at 10:15 pm, followed by another bomb at around 10:20 pm. In total, three bombs were dropped in three separate strikes.

Earlier, on 14 January, the SSPC conducted coordinated helicopter and air operations in Kyaukhtu township, Saw township. During these operations, multiple airstrikes were carried out in the Kyaukhtu area.

Authorities and local sources are continuing to investigate and verify the damage and impact resulting from the airstrikes. – Reporting by Ben
