SSPC airstrikes reported in Saw and Mindat townships

20 January 2026 – A MiG-29 jet fighter operated by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) from Magway Air Base carried out unprovoked airstrikes on villages in Saw township, Magway Region, on Tuesday afternoon.

Earlier the same day, at around 3:15 pm, the same aircraft conducted two airstrikes on two locations near the entrance to Mindat town in Chin State. The impact of those strikes was not yet known at the time of reporting.

Further airstrikes were reported at approximately 4:08 pm and 4:13 pm on villages in Saw township, where Chin civilians displaced by conflict had taken shelter. 

Local reports said four civilians were injured, including one who sustained serious injuries, and one house was destroyed.

Local sources urged civilians to remain cautious, citing increased military air activity in the area in recent days. – Reporting by Ben
