05 January 2026 – Indiscriminate airstrikes conducted by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) on Halta and Haiphai villages in Hakha township, Chin State, last night resulted in the deaths of a mother and her two children and severely injured the father.
The aerial bombardments occurred between midnight and 2 am, striking a family home during their sleep in Halta village despite the absence of any ground clashes.
A Halta resident informed the Lungmili Post that the four casualties were from the same household.
The father is currently in critical condition with severe injuries, according to local sources.
The SSPC’s overnight airstrikes also damaged several civilian houses in both villages. The full extent of the property damage is yet to be confirmed.
Updates on deaths and injuries:

2. Dally Zing Tha, aged 6 (death)
3. Victor Van Thawng Hmung, aged 3 (death)
Pu Siang Awi, aged 35, who was seriously injured, passed away the following day while being taken to nearest hospital.
Mary Van Par Mawi, aged 8, one of the children of the deceased parents of Pi Tha Tum and Pu Siang Awi, is injured in her legs and one of her arms.
Pi Hoi Thai, a mother of 3 children and who is now six-month pregnant, is injured in one of her thigh and in her chest. Her injuries are serious but can be treated.
Rebecca Par Nei Rem, aged 14, is injured in her head and back.
Ceu Kum, aged 30, is injured in his groin and is being treated in one village.
