20 December 2025 – The Interim Mindat Township Administration Body officially announced a ban on all Christmas and New Year gatherings, effective from 19 December 2025 until further notice.
The measure is a public safety warning, implemented due to the ongoing threat of airstrikes by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), formerly the State Administration Council (SAC), according to the statement.
The administration indicated that the ban is necessary to protect residents from potential attacks by the SSPC, which has conducted frequent airstrikes on Mindat township in recent months.
The warning stressed that non-compliance with the order would result in action taken under current laws.
This move mirrors similar safety precautions adopted across Chin State, particularly in major towns and villages, following airstrikes that have increasingly targeted civilian populations.
Separately, the Chinland Defence Force (CDF-Hakha) imposed a nightly curfew for Hakha town residents. The curfew, effective from 29 October 2025 through 31 January 2026, prohibits residents from leaving their homes daily between 7 pm and 5 am.#
