1 October 2025

On 1 October, continuous heavy rainfall triggered a landslide that damaged the main road between Am Pon and Sam Ein Nu villages in Kanpetlet township’s Circle No. 5, Chin State, disrupting transportation and daily life, according to local sources. The road serves as the primary route for delivering food supplies from the nearby village and is vital for economic, social, and health-related activities. With the road now unusable, residents are struggling to transport food and essential goods and have appealed for repairs. The Circle No. 5 People’s Administration Committee has begun restoration efforts and called on nearby communities to assist in repairing the road

On 1 October, Corporal Nyi Nyi Shwe, aged 37, and Private Khine Cho Htoo, aged 22, defected from the LIB 269 base in Tedim town, Chin State, joining the Zomi Federal Union (ZFU)/PDF-Zoland (People’s Defence Force) with their weapons. PDF-Zoland rewarded the two soldiers and urged all remaining SAC soldiers, including the LIB 269 Battalion Commander, to join the public.

On 1 October, a coalition of PDF (People’s Defence Force) groups attacked and seized a Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) camp in Ohn Taw village, Kanbalu township, Sagaing Region, at 10:00 pm. Two Pyusawhti members were killed, six captured, and weapons seized. Ohntaw village, previously a stronghold for the Pyusawhti militia and the State Administration Council (SAC), was known for its activities that troubled local communities and residents.

On 1 October, the Chin Christian Fellowship Macau (CCFM) in China successfully hosted a football tournament to celebrate the Chin New Year, with eight men’s and five women’s teams from various Myanmar expatriate organizations participating. Burmese Old FC won the men’s division, with Chin United FC (A) as runner-up. In the women’s category, Chin United FC (A) took the championship, and Karenni FC was runner-up. Other ethnic teams from Myanmar include Karen, Karenni, Arakan and Burmese.

2 October 2025

On 2 October at around 7 am, SAC forces launched intense airstrikes near Pa Laung village, west of Pauk township, Magway Region. Using a Y-12 reconnaissance and transport aircraft, they reportedly conducted more than 40 bombing runs, dropping approximately 46 bombs near Pa Laung village close to KPS-24. Casualty figures remain unconfirmed. 

3 October 2025

On 3 October, SAC troops destroyed an inter-village road between Pauk Chaung and Pa Laung villages in Pauk township, Magway Region, and stationed forces in the area. Locals are warned to exercise caution due to ongoing ground raids, while resistance groups also caution against frequent airstrikes using aircraft, drones, and heavy weapons.

On 3 October, a Chin man stabbed another Chin man, identified as Salai Lian, to death in Malaysia using scissors. The victim, who is originally from Hrawng Vun village of Hakha township, Chin State, worked together at a company with him. The incident took place in a drunken dispute after work. The assailant has been arrested and is currently in Malaysian police custody.

On 3 October, Dr. Zaw Wai Soe, NUG’s Union Minister of Education and Health, announced plans to strengthen revolutionary forces against the military dictatorship. The NUG (National Unity Government) will establish bases in liberated areas like Chin, Kachin, and Rakhine States, using these territories to generate income from agriculture, livestock, and mineral resources, also aiming for border trade with India, China, Bangladesh, and Thailand, and securing funds through taxation. Dr. Soe stressed self-reliance, public trust, good governance, and unity among all revolutionary forces as crucial for victory.

On 3 October, two Chin youths, Salai San Hla Htun, aged 17, and Salai Kyaw Kyaw, aged 18, died in Minbya township, Rakhine State, after their motorcycle collided with a signboard in Min village. The incident occurred around 10:00 am as they traveled to the Minbya town market. One youth died instantly, and the other succumbed to injuries at the hospital. Both were Laitu (Chin) from Ah Haung Taung and Nwan Nit Khwa Sone villages, respectively.

4 October 2025

On 4 October at around 1:23 am and 1:34 am,  the SAC military junta carried out indiscriminate airstrikes on two locations in Mindat town, Chin State. The attacks seriously injured three civilians, two women and one man, and caused damage to multiple homes.

5 October 2025

On 5 October at around 11:30 am, the SAC military conducted a gyrocopter bombing in northeastern Pauk township, Magway Region, killing one civilian and injuring three others. Local sources reported that three gyrocopters from the Northwestern Regional Military Command (NaMaKha) in Monywa town carried out the attack, dropping bombs in three separate runs. One victim sustained a serious leg injury, while the other two were injured but not in life-threatening condition.

On 5 October, the SAC announced that the first phase of its election will be held on 28 December in Hakha and Tedim townships in Chin State, with 39,899 eligible voters. Hakha has 27,475 voters (69.20% of 2020), and Tedim has 12,424 voters (an 81.13% decrease from 2020). In Chin State, elections will only occur in Thantlang, Hakha, Falam, Tedim, and Tonzang townships, not in Paletwa, Kanpetlet, Mindat, and Matupi townships. A total of 28 seats will be contested across the state. The New Chinland Congress Party (NCCP) and Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) each have 28 candidates, Zomi National Party (ZNP) has 20, People’s Pioneer Party (PPP) has 9, and Khumi National Party (KNP) has 1. The SAC dissolved the National League for Democracy (NLD) and several Chin State and ethnic-based parties from the 2020 election for failing to reapply for registration.

On 5 October, a three-day aerial assault by military aircraft and drones in Magway Region’s Pauk and Myaing townships, resulted in one civilian death, multiple injuries, and damage to homes. Drones conducted bombing runs in Pauk township, killing one and injuring two, and in Myaing township, injuring two workers and damaging buildings. An official confirmed continuous attacks, causing residents to evacuate. Revolutionary forces urge vigilance.

6 October 2025

On 6 October, a joint revolutionary force launched an attack on Gangaw town, Magway Region, targeting the SAC’s Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 50 and the Gangaw Myoma Police Station with RPGs (rocket-propelled grenade). While no casualties were reported at LIB 50, the police station attack is believed to have caused casualties and damage. The assault also disrupted a funfair and music festival. In response, the military fired 120mm artillery rounds at Zar Haw village, injuring one civilian and three cows. Residents are urged to remain vigilant as the SAC prepares for elections and continues shelling nearby villages.

On 6 October at around 7:00 pm, the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) bombed a Thadingyut light festival in Chaung-U township in the Sagaing Region. At least 24 people were killed, some decapitated or dismembered, and 47 others were injured, including children. 7 October 2025

On 7 October, two Asho Chin Defence Force (ACDF) members, Mr. Bobo Win and Mr. Pyae So Aung, were killed on the frontline. ACDF honoured them as national heroes and pledged to continue pursuing their unfinished goals.

On 7 October, Mr. Kaw Lia, aged 40, of Pudu, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, was found dead near his home. He had been missing since 3:00 pm on 6 October. Close contacts located him in a warehouse-like building around 8:00 pm (Malaysian time). Mr. Kaw Lia, originally from Sempi village, Matupi township, Chin State, had a head injury and was bleeding. Those close to him suspect he was beaten. His body is at the hospital, and his family plans to retrieve it this evening for cremation tomorrow. The cause of death is unknown.

On 7 October, Mizoram’s Home Ministry announced that biometric data collection for over 10,000 Myanmar refugees is complete. Since late July, data for 11,693 refugees (37.40% of the total 31,265) have been collected, including 3,319 men, 3,584 women, and 4,790 children. The process has been slow due to inconsistent internet connectivity for online data collection. Refugees are sheltered across all 11 districts of Mizoram State, in camps or rented homes. On 7 October, the Global Thantlang Relief Organization (GTRO) launched its GTRO IDOL singing competition to support the revolution and the recapture of Thantlang town. Prizes are 10,000,000 kyats for first, 5,000,000 kyats for second, and 2,000,000 kyats for third, including a trophy and small prizes. GTRO IDOL aims to discover singing talent, foster village connections, and raise funds for CDF-Thantlang.

8 October 2025

On 8 October, the SAC military airstrikes killed at least four civilians and injured 12 in two villages in Mindat township, Chin State. Two jet fighters, reportedly from Tada-U and Nay Pyi Taw airbases, targeted a Roman Catholic church and nearby areas. Overnight attacks also struck a boarding school in Htin Chaung village, killing four students and injuring 12, and damaged a public school in Vawmm’tu village without casualties. Communication restrictions limit full verification of casualties and damage.

On 8 October, the SAC military forces carried out airstrikes in northern Pauk township, Magway Region, using gyrocopters and paramotor aircraft, killing five civilians and injuring six others, including a child. Three gyrocopters from the Northwestern Command and two paramotor aircraft from Light Infantry Division 101 of SAC in Pakokku Division based in conducted multiple strikes, including the Yenanthar oil field. The attacks follow repeated air raids and artillery shelling on civilian areas. Locals have been warned to remain vigilant amid ongoing bombardments.

On 8 October, the David Lai Music Tour in Japan donated nearly 2 million kyats to HPO/CDF-Hualngoram (Hualngoram Peoples Organization/Chinland Defence Force), a local defence group fighting in the revolution and based in Rihkhawdar town, Falam township, Chin State. HPO/CDF-Hualngoram expressed gratitude on 29 September for the donation by the David Lai Music Tour in Japan.

On 8 October, a 20-member security patrol from Kani town was ambushed by the People’s Defence Forces (PDFs) in Ward 3. The attack, by a mobile platoon of the Strategy 45 Kyauk Lone Gyi-People’s Defence Force (KLG-PDF) force, killed seven SAC soldiers and police. The KLG-PDF reported seizing one MA1 rifle, one MA11 rifle, and ammunition. An official told Yangon Khit Thit News that the 20-minute battle ended when KLG-PDF forces retreated due to reinforcements, preventing the collection of all weapons. PDF members withdrew without casualties.

9 October 2025

On 9 October, the Township Administration announced the temporary closure of all public schools starting 10 October in Mindat township, Chin State, following military airstrikes targeting schools and boarding houses. On 8 October, attacks in Vawmm’tu and Htin Chaung villages killed three students and a woman with a disability, injuring 12, and damaging six houses, including a school.

On 9 October, it is said that voter lists posted in Hakha and Tedim townships in Chin State for the State Security and Peace Commission/SSPC-led election (scheduled for 28 December) have garnered little public interest. Despite the lists being available since 30 September, residents are uninterested in checking them. A Hakha local noted that people are not interested in the election and fear checking the list due to SSPC police presence and a warning sign about imprisonment for causing trouble. Tedim residents similarly reported unwillingness to check the lists.

10 October 2025

On 10 October, People’s Goal, a Myanmar civil society organization founded by defected soldiers, announced the launch of a Rattan Weaving Training Course in Aizawl, for CDM soldiers, police officers and their families, civilian CDM staff, and refugees from Myanmar currently staying in Mizoram State of India. Each batch will train 10 participants for over 6 weeks. Accommodation will be provided for participants from distant areas. Applicants must meet basic educational requirements, demonstrate genuine interest, commit to full attendance, and plan to pursue rattan weaving as a livelihood.

On 10 October, a local defence group attacked SAC troops around Ywarsi village in Gangaw township, Magway Region, employing drones and heavy weapons. SAC’s troops stationed at the Pagoda Hill were attacked with bombs. Casualties and the extent of damage remain unverified. Residents have been warned to remain vigilant in case of potential SAC retaliation. 

On 10 October at around 8 pm, SAC’s military junta launched airstrikes in Matupi town, Chin State, using a jet fighter from Nay Pyi Taw airbase. The bombardments targeted the Fire Department Office and surrounding areas, reportedly dropping two 500-pound bombs. Several fatalities were reported, though initial reports indicate the victims were not residents. Churches and houses were damaged, and the identities of the victims are still unknown. 

On 10 October, Chinland Channel reported that the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA) ordered residents of Tonzang town and nearby villages in Chin State to evacuate by 15 October, causing distress. A CDF-Tonzang (Chinland Defence Force) official, Mr. Zo Mu Mung, advised residents against fleeing, suggesting relocation within town during potential clashes. He confirmed the ZRA’s evacuation notice bore their logo and stamp, with lobbyists informing locals, causing some to leave. CDF-Tonzang captured Tonzang town from junta forces on 23 May 2024 and has maintained control despite repeated ZRA attacks and retreats.

12 October 2025

On 12 October, the SAC military carried out gyrocopter airstrikes in northeastern Pauk township, Magway Region, injuring one civilian and destroying a house. Three gyrocopters reportedly launched from North-Western Regional Military Command (NaMaKha) in Monywa town, targeting areas near local oil fields. Earlier attacks on 8 and 11 October by helicopters and jet fighters killed and injured several oil field workers.

On 12 October, approximately 30 Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) members, accompanied by fighters from the Shanni Nationalities Army (SNA) and Meitei, reportedly crossed the India-Myanmar border into a village providing shelter to Myanmar refugees. Indian Assam Rifles fired warning shots, compelling the group to retreat after they allegedly abducted five refugees to act as guides. Following the incident, Indian security forces recovered a uniform and ammunition, and reported one Pyusawhti member killed and two injured. This event has escalated fears among refugees residing in the border region.

On 12 October, the Hriphi Christian Fellowship (HCF) based in Malaysia donated 20,000 ringgits (Malaysia Ringgit) to the CNF/CNA (Chin National Front/Army), supporting their revolution against the SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) military to establish self-determination and a federal democratic union. CNFRC (Chin National Front Regional Committee) Malaysia expressed deep gratitude for HCF’s generous support.

13 October 2025

On 13 October, the CDF-Hakha Central Council ordered the temporary closure of all basic schools in Hakha township, Chin State, after an SAC airstrike on the Hakha township’s Vanha village basic school killed two students and injured over 20, including teachers. The SAC’s action, which the CHRO condemned as an attempt to instill fear before a sham election, targeted schools with jet fighters.

On 13 October, a 50-year-old Chin man from Myanmar was fatally stabbed in the neck in Cameron Highlands, Malaysia. The victim had reportedly provided assistance to the two Chin perpetrators, helping them secure employment and accommodation. An argument concerning the perpetrators’ behavior is believed to have preceded the attack. The two men, who had recently arrived from Myanmar’s Magway Region, were apprehended on the same night and are currently in custody as investigations continue.

14 October 2025

On 14 October at around 7:00 am, SAC’s military junta carried out another airstrike on an area between Matupi General Hospital and the police station in Matupi town, Chin State. Two bombs were dropped, but no casualties have been reported so far.

On 14 October at around 2:00 pm, the SAC conducted two airstrikes on Tonzang town, Chin State. Casualties and damage are unknown. This follows earlier attacks on Matupi town (7:00 am on 14 October) and Vanha village, Hakha township (13 October), which killed two children.

On 14 October, CDF-Hakha (Chinland Defence Force) condemned the military junta’s 13 October bombing of Vanha village school in Hakha township, Chin State. The attack killed two students (aged 8 and 12) and injured 21 people (2 seriously). CDF-Hakha stated Vanha is not a military camp and denounced the deliberate targeting of a school as a crime violating humanitarian and human rights laws. They also criticised the military’s frequent airstrikes on civilian areas before their planned election, deeming the election illegitimate and warning against participation. CDF-Hakha demanded an end to attacks on civilian sites, holding commanders responsible, and urged international organisations to ensure accountability.

On 10-14 October, Chinland Council Vice Chairman Mr. Bawi Kung led a high-level delegation to the Thado region and Tonzang township, Chin State. The delegation, including other council and ministerial leaders, met with residents to discuss “the building of Chinland, the administration of Chinland’s townships and regions, and the matter of unity.” These meetings are part of ongoing efforts to express solidarity and conduct reconstruction work amidst the revolution. In Tonzang township, the CDF-Tonzang (Chinland Defence Force), a Chinland Council member, currently oversees local administration.

15 October 2025

On 14–15 October, the Asho Chin Defence Force (ACDF) announced that two of its members, Mr. Tun Min Zing (ACDF–0178) and Mr. Myo Kyaw (ACDF–0138), were killed on the frontline at the border between Magway Region and Rakhine State. The ACDF hailed them as “Asho national heroes” and reaffirmed its commitment to fulfilling their unfinished goals. 

On 15 October, over 20 SAC soldiers, who had escaped from Chin National Defence Force (CNDF) custody after the battle for Falam town in Chin State, were airlifted by the Indian Army. The soldiers had sought refuge in Saikhumphai village, Champhai District, Mizoram, following clashes between CNDF and CDF-Hualngoram forces at Camp Rihli. They are anticipated to be repatriated to the Myanmar military via the Moreh–Tamu border in Manipur State.

On 15 October, three female members of the Matupi Township Education Board were detained by the Matupi Revolutionary Organisation (MRO) and Chin Defence Force–Matupi (CDF–Matupi) in Chin State. Their reasons for arrest are unclear, and family visits are denied. These teachers, involved in the Civil Disobedience Movement and education programs under the National Unity Government, have been key in promoting education in Matupi township.

On 15 October, the Chinland Government’s Ministry of Education condemned the SSPC’s (State Security and Peace Commission) deliberate bombing of schools and students across Myanmar, including Chin State, severely hindering educational opportunities. On 9 October, SSPC airstrikes on a Mindat township boarding school killed 3 students and 1 guardian, injuring over 10. On 13 October, another attack on a school in Vanha village, Hakha township, killed an 8-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl, and injured 5 teachers and 16 students. The Ministry urged the international community to punish the SSPC for these actions against civilians, students, and teachers.

On 15 October, a military column from the State Administration Council (SAC) arrested 50 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from Shein Ma Kar (New) village, located in the eastern part of Wetlet township, Sagaing Region. The IDPs were reportedly used as human shields and forced to carry supplies.

16 October 2025

On 16 October at around 3 am, a coalition of Chin defence forces, including the Chinland Defence Force–Hakha (CDF–Hakha), attacked the Hakha Myoma Police Station in Hakha town, Chin State, rescuing 15 detainees. The clash with SAC police left at least six policemen and one CDF member dead. Freed prisoners included two women and 13 men, while seven detainees remain in custody.

On 16 October at around 3:30 pm, SAC’s military junta launched an airstrike on Matupi town, reportedly from Tada-U Air Force Base. The attack, the third in recent days, targeted the Border Areas Nationalities Youth Development Training School. Initial reports suggest several fatalities, though the victims were not residents. Verification of damage and casualties was unknown.

On 16 October, a four-year-old child died from malaria while being transported to a clinic in a remote village of Paletwa township, Chin State. Residents report a resurgence of malaria in the Daai area, with critical shortages of medicine and diagnostic kits affecting both children and adults. At least five deaths were also reported in July and August.

On 16 October, the Kalay-Khampat road in Sagaing Region, was closed due to a heightened military presence. The SAC reinforced troops, weapons, and ammunition, creating a tense environment. Locals reported the SAC plans to clear the Kalay-Tamu-Kalay road before the election, with clashes already occurring and troops nearing Yan Myo Aung village. Fighting is expected, making the road unsafe even if not officially closed. Since 16 October, military reinforcements, including Y-8 and ATR-72 transport planes, have continuously been deployed to the area. Residents in Khampat areas are fleeing due to the anticipated offensive along the Tamu-Kalay road.

On 16 October, the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) significantly increased its military presence in Kalay town, Sagaing Region, bringing in reinforcements by air. Locals observed five troop landings (four via Y-8 aircraft, one via ATR-72), with soldiers then transported in 11 vehicles to eastern Kalay. This large-scale deployment has prompted local defence forces to advise civilians along the Kalay–Khampat road to evacuate. A conflict analyst told Khonumthung Media the deployment aims to secure the Kalay–Gangaw motor road, including Tamu. The analyst warned of potential serious fighting and urged public vigilance.

17 October 2025

On 17 October, Chin fighter Salai Har Ling Om (Auk Chin La), aged 26, secured a victory over Japan’s Haruyuki Yatsu by judges’ decision at ONE Championship: Friday Fight 129 in Bangkok, Thailand. The win marked a strong comeback following his debut loss in August. 

On 17 October, a couple, Mr. Kyaw Myo and Mrs. Aye Ma Oo, were arrested by SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) troops and Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) on the Shwebo–Myitkyina road in Kanbalu township, Sagaing Region. Mrs. Aye Ma Oo was subsequently raped, murdered, and robbed of jewellery, while the couple was robbed of 700,000 kyats, three phones, and a motorcycle. Mr. Kyaw Myo was tortured at a Pyusawhti camp but escaped to the Kanbalu District PDF (People’s Defence Force), Battalion 3.

On 17 October, an SAC military airstrike in Ayadaw township, Sagaing Region, killed four civilians, including a 7-year-old, and injured over 10, a resident informed Yangon Khit Thit Media. The attack, carried out by a YAK-130 jet from Tada-U Airbase near a school in Thit Cho Kone village, occurred despite no active fighting in the area. This incident follows another airstrike in the same township on 28 September.

18 October 2025

On 18 October, security forces seized a large cache of explosives and arrested two suspects, who are identified as Mr. Lalrinsanga and Mr. Vanlalliana, in Champhai District, Mizoram. Acting on a tip-off, the Assam Rifles intercepted the shipment, recovering 5,800 gelatin sticks, 10,500 metres of fuse, and 6,000 detonators. The detainees and materials were handed over to Dungtlang Police Station for investigation. Authorities are probing possible links to smuggling or militant networks.

On 18 October, two members of the United Tribal Volunteers (UTV) were arrested in Chandel District, Manipur State, after crossing into Indian territory from Myanmar. Acting on intelligence and surveillance, Indian security forces detained the individuals and transferred them to the Chakpikarong police station for further interrogation. The arrests were carried out to prevent cross-border militant activities in the region.

On 18 October, SAC troops were seen moving from Kalay town, Sagaing Region, towards Chin State via Khaikam town in Chin State, using military and civilian vehicles. A resident speculated they were launching a column into the hills. Since August, troops have occupied a viewpoint above Khaikam town, forcing locals to use bypass routes. Separately, SAC troops launched a major operation north of Kalay town, reportedly burning Yar Za Gyo village and arresting villagers.

On 18 October, Thai authorities arrested 89 Myanmar nationals in two separate incidents for illegally crossing the border into Mae Sot District, Tak Province, Malaysia. 55 individuals (31 males, 24 females) without legal documents were apprehended during vehicle inspections, accompanied by two guides. They are charged at Mae Sot District Police Station. On 17 October, border patrol operations led to the arrest of 34 illegal Myanmar nationals (26 males, 8 females), also without documents. They are being questioned at Mae Pa Police Station.

19 October 2025

On 19 October, SAC military troops raided Kyauk Kone village, Wetlet township, Sagaing Region, arresting two women and stealing property. About 50 SAC soldiers and Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) from Tha Le Bar village initiated the attack. Thousands from surrounding villages are fleeing.

On 19 October, the Thai authorities arrested 162 Myanmar nationals, including minors aged 15-18, for illegal entry in Kanchanaburi Province, Thailand. The group comprised 92 males and 70 females. They were arrested while hiding, exhausted, in villages and forests. Interrogations revealed they intended to work in Thailand and Malaysia, entering via the Three Pagodas Pass through various routes, each paying a broker fee of 20,000 to 24,000 Thai Baht. All are currently detained at the police station.

On 19 October, SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) troops attacked Hmandaw (Man Taw) village in Kalay township, Sagaing Region. The CDF-KKG, defending the village, was forced to retreat due to the SSPC’s superior numbers and weaponry, resulting in the deaths of four people’s soldiers. The SSPC is also airlifting reinforcements into Kalay town for offensives along the Kalay–Khampat–Tamu road, displacing over a thousand residents to Kalay town, Tamu town, and India’s Manipur State.

20 October 2025

On 20 October at around 2 pm, Mr. Van Nei Cung, a 40-year-old Chin man, died after a brick wall collapsed on him at the construction site of Govt. Gandhi Memorial High School in Champhai town, Mizoram State. He was rushed to Champhai District Hospital but could not be saved. Originally from Tahan Ward, Kalay town, Mr. Van Nei Cung is survived by two daughters and a son.

On 20 October, SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) forces reportedly killed 18 local men, 10 in Yar Za Gyo village and 8 in Khon Thar village, while advancing through eastern Kalay township, Sagaing Region. The bodies remain unrecovered due to fear. SSPC troops are stationed in Yar Za Gyo, Saw Bwar Yae Shin, and Se Gyi, and have entered Let Pan Chaung, Pyi Taw Thar, and Maw Si villages. Over 25,000 residents from approximately 30 villages along the Kalay–Tamu road, including many Chin people, have fled and require urgent aid. The Kalay Town Strike Committee reports that since the military coup, the SSPC has killed over 500 locals, destroyed 44 religious buildings and 44 villages, and burned down 6,250 homes in Kalay township.

On 20 October, SAC troops reportedly entered Let Pan Chaung village in Kalay township, Sagaing Region, burning homes after an offensive launched on 16 October along the Kalay-Tamu road. Residents fled to safe areas, needing urgent assistance. A local confirmed the fires and evacuations, adding that the column has also committed killings and used civilians as human shields. This offensive is believed to be an attempt by the SAC to regain control from revolutionary forces, with both sides reporting casualties in clashes. Separately, Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) and SAC troops reoccupied Hmandaw (Man Taw) village in southern Kalay township after attacking revolutionary forces.

21 October 2025

On 21 October, local authorities arrested Mr. Wanna Kyaw in connection with the murder of Ms. Shing Khaw Vai, aged 62, a Chin IDP found dead in a forest in Saw town, Magway Region, on 20 October. She had been reported missing since 17 October. Her jewellery was missing, suggesting a possible robbery. Two men associated with her remain unaccounted for. Ms. Shing Khaw Vai, originally from Daut Htway village, Mindat township, had fled conflict to stay in Saw town, which shelters thousands of Chin IDPs.

On 21 October, the Johor State Immigration Department repatriated 149 foreign nationals, including 62 Myanmar citizens, who were arrested throughout the year for illegal residency and work in Johor State, Malaysia. The individuals, from seven countries (71 Indonesians, 62 Myanmar, 5 Koreans, 4 Chinese, 3 Singaporeans, 2 Vietnamese, and 2 Sri Lankans), were processed under immigration laws and sent home via Johor’s international airport. 22 October 2025 

On 22 October, over 10,000 residents were displaced in Kalay township, Sagaing Region, due to large-scale SAC offensives on the Kalay-Tamu and Kalay-Gangaw roads. Residents from at least 50 northern and southern Kalay villages, including vulnerable individuals, have fled to Kalay town and towards the Indian border. Aid workers report critical needs, especially food, as winter approaches. The Kalay Township Public Strike Steering Committee has formed an Emergency Response and Aid Team to address the crisis. It heavily impacted 15 villages in Kalay township, Sagaing Region. 

On 22 October, fierce fighting erupted in Tamu township, Sagaing Region. SAC troops launched an offensive from Pan Thar village towards Kha Meik village, controlled by resistance forces, leading to clashes. A military source reported that SAC troops, with a large force, advanced on Kha Meik early this morning, forcing resistance forces to withdraw. They are now moving towards Nan Mun Tar, with potential casualties. After securing Kha Meik, SAC forces continued towards Nan Mun Tar (Lallim) village on the Tamu-Kalay road. Resistance forces are counter-attacking, and both sides have sustained casualties. Previous offensives by SAC troops in the same villages resulted in intense fighting before resistance forces regained control.

On 22 October, the Chin community in Nelson, New Zealand, began construction on Chin Gardens at the QEII (Queen Elizabeth II) Reserve, a 14-year project. A sod-turning ceremony, led by Ngāti Tama and attended by Chin and local leaders, marked a crucial step in realising the Chin people’s cultural vision for Nelson. The site aims to be a place for reflection and cultural sharing. Phase one, focusing on groundwork, structures, and pathways, has commenced, funded by $40,000 from the Nelson City Council and $110,000 in community donations. Further phases depend on additional funding. The Chin community will lead planning and planting under an ‘Adopt a Spot’ agreement. Phase one is expected to conclude before Christmas with a celebratory event. Attendees lauded the Chin Garden as “a symbol of hope, unity, and belonging,” fostering unity through diversity.

23 October 2025 

On 23 October, the Political Prisoners Network-Myanmar (PPNM) reported that Kalay Prison inmates in Sagaing Region are forced to pay millions of kyats for external medical treatment, with costs ranging from 500,000 to 2,000,000 kyats since August due to insufficient prison medicine. Permission for care is sometimes contingent on paying for the authorities’ KTV (Karaoke Television) expenses, leading to disabilities from untreated conditions. PPNM condemned these actions as oppressive and a violation of human dignity, noting authorities often stage photos when abuse is reported. From January to October 2025, 28 political prisoners died from inadequate medical care.

On 23 October, the SAC military had prohibited the transport of medicine from Kalay town, Sagaing Region, to Chin State (Chin Hill) since late September. Previously, medical transport was permitted with hospital documentation, but this is no longer the case. Residents report severe difficulties for those needing long-term medication, as all bags, IDs, and phones are thoroughly searched at the 8-Mile Gate. This ban follows earlier prohibitions on rice (early 2024) and fuel transport to Chin State. Additionally, motorbike inspections at the 8-Mile Gate result in fines of 30,000-50,000 kyats for those without proper licenses.

24 October 2025 

On 24 October, Mr. Htang Khui Shing, aged 19,  made his ONE Championship debut at ONE Friday Fights 130 but lost to Thai opponent Mr. Saung Chain Nwai by judges’ decision after three rounds, held at Lumpinee Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, coinciding with Mr. Htang Khui Shing’s 19th birthday. Despite the loss, he impressed spectators with his skill, courage, and determination.

On 24 October at around 9:20 am, Myanmar’s military junta carried out two airstrikes on Kanpetlet town, killing four people and injuring over fifteen others. A jet fighter dropped three bombs targeting a wedding ceremony in No. 2 Myoma Ward. The attack is part of a series of junta airstrikes on civilian areas across Chin State, including schools and churches, amid reported military reinforcements and preparations for the December 2025 elections.

On 24 October, Indian Assam Rifles seized a cache of weapons and ammunition hidden in a forest near Saikhumphai village, Champhai District, India, close to the India-Myanmar border. The recovered items included mortars, rifles, bullets, shells, and communication devices, which were handed over to Dungtlang Police Station for investigation. The source of the weapons remains unknown.

On 24 October, Malaysia’s Immigration Department announced the arrest of 3,566 undocumented foreign nationals, including Myanmar nationals, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, during October. The department affirmed its commitment to continued arrests and actions against those employing or harbouring illegal foreign workers.

On 24 October, revolutionary forces successfully recaptured Nan Mun Tar village on the Tamu-Kalay road in Tamu township, Sagaing Region. This counter-attack was a response to an offensive launched by SAC forces from Pan Thar village on 22 October 2025. During the recapture, four SAC soldiers were killed, and seven weapons were seized. Revolutionary groups had initially made a temporary tactical withdrawal from the village before launching their successful counter-offensive.

On 24 October, SAC troops fatally shot 40-year-old Mr. Kap Sian Mung and injured another man in northern Kalay township, Sagaing Region. The victims were returning to Aung village for rations after fleeing advancing SAC columns. Mr. Mung’s family had previously fled Pyi Taw Thar village and then Aung village due to the SAC presence. The SAC is conducting extensive offensives in Kalay township, displacing thousands. On 22 October, three residents in southern Kalay township were injured during SAC attacks on Doe Nwe and Kyaw villages with heavy weaponry.

25 October 2025 

On 25 October, the Chin National Front (CNF/CNA) sent a tribute to the Kachin Independence Organisation/Army (KIO/KIA) marking its 65th anniversary, praising its leadership and support for ethnic armed groups. CNF reaffirmed solidarity with the Kachin people, the National Unity Government (NUG), and other pro-democracy forces, vowing to continue the struggle for freedom. The message also honoured Kachin martyrs and extended well-wishes to KIO/KIA leaders and fighters.

On 25 October at around 8:30 pm, Myanmar’s military junta launched another airstrike on Kanpetlet town, marking the second consecutive day of aerial attacks. Two jet fighters reportedly dropped bombs on the town’s western side, with the extent of damage and casualties still under investigation.

On 25 October, the Chinland Defence Force (CDF-Hakha) reported that a junta soldier, Zwe Htet Aung, from LIB-266 based on Mount Rung in Hakha town, surrendered to the SRF (Senthang Revolution Force) in Hakha township, Chin State. During his surrender, he handed over an MA-11 rifle, three magazines, and 150 rounds of ammunition.

On 25 October, an SAC airstrike on Boke Htan village, Depayin township, Sagaing Region, injured two civilians and damaged homes. The Kaung Kin PDF reported that two bombs were dropped from a jet at 4:30 pm. The injuries were not life-threatening, but homes were destroyed. This follows an 18 August air attack on Mu Kan Gyi village monastery in southern Depayin township, which killed five civilians, including a monk, and destroyed three monastery buildings.

26 October 2025 

On 26 October at around 2:18 pm, Myanmar’s military junta carried out an airstrike on Mindat town, Chin State, targeting the former main police station with two bombing runs that caused significant damage. Casualties remain unconfirmed. The junta’s escalating air campaign has prompted Chin defence forces to warn residents to stay alert and avoid large gatherings amid ongoing raids.

On 26 October, the Kanpetlet Township People’s Administration urged residents to avoid public gatherings and build protective shelters amid ongoing junta airstrike threats. The warning followed consecutive bombings on 24 and 25 October, when junta jet fighters dropped 500-pound bombs on Kanpetlet town, killing four civilians, injuring fifteen, and destroying several homes and buildings. 

On 26 October, two civilians were accidentally shot dead during a funeral in Kanpetlet town, Chin State, after a CDF-Kanpetlet member allegedly fired his weapon while under the influence of alcohol. The victims were identified as Mr. Chain Htang, a 29-year-old schoolteacher, and Ms. Mercy, an 18-year-old student. The incident occurred a day after a junta airstrike on 24 October that killed four people and injured fifteen at a wedding ceremony. CDF-Kanpetlet, which controls the town under the Chin Brotherhood alliance, has not yet issued an official statement.

On 26 October, the SAC military dropped eight bombs from two motorised paragliders, damaging the homes of Mr. Mae Gyi, leader of the Tha Man Kyar PDF (People’s Defence Force), and an adjacent house in Yae Khar village, Salingyi township, Sagaing Region. No casualties were reported. Separately, SAC troops based in the China Wanbao Company site raided Aung Chan Si village, forcing many nearby residents to flee. The SAC military entered Aung Chan Si and the Nyaung Pin Gyi Electric Office, causing fear and evacuations in neighbouring areas.

27 October 2025 

On 27 October at around 7:15 pm, a Myanmar military junta jet fighter from Nay Pyi Taw Air Base conducted an airstrike on Mindat town in Chin State, dropping two bombs. The military’s campaign of airstrikes in the region continues, and the extent of casualties and damage from this latest incident is currently unconfirmed.

On 27 October, the SAC military reinforced its base at GTC (Government Technological College) on the Kalay-Gangaw highway in southern Kalay township and burned down villages. On the same day at around 1:30 pm, approximately 100 SAC troops from the GTC burned down Kyun Chaung village, north of Htauk Kyant village in Kalay township. Residents from places of Thar Yar Kone, Hto Mar, Htauk Kyant, and Kyun Chaung are fleeing. The SAC is launching full-scale offensives to regain control of the Kalay-Tamu and Kalay-Gangaw highways before the upcoming election. 

On 27 October, the Senthang Revolutionary Force (SRF) reported that a SAC soldier in Hakha town, Chin State, surrendered with an MA-1 rifle, three magazines, and ammunition. The SRF welcomed him with cash and gifts and urged other soldiers to defect and join the revolution.

28 October 2025 

On 28 October, SSPC (State Security and Peace Commission) troops, reinforced by air, began a march from Tedim town, towards Tonzang town, Chin State, aiming to retake it. Local reports indicate the deployment started around 8:00 am. A Tedim town resident told Khumiland News that the heavily armed troops had reached the Zalui river bridge, 20 miles from Tonzang town. Tonzang town, protected by CDF-Tonzang (Chinland Defence Force), was bombed by the SSPC on 14 October, destroying homes. The SSPC reportedly plans to hold the December election there. To facilitate the advance, the SSPC transported a large number of troops from Kalay to Tedim towns via ten aircraft flights on 26 and 27 October.

On 28 October, the Chinland Defence Force (CDF–Tonzang) sealed the homes of two candidates from the Union Solidarity and Development Party (USDP) and Zomi National Party (ZNP) for cooperating with the junta’s election commission in Tonzang town, Chin State. Both candidates have reportedly relocated to Kalay town, Sagaing Region.  

On 28 October, the Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) urged the state government to probe the alleged illegal transport of around 10,000 unmarked urea bags from Mizoram to Myanmar, citing the lack of official allocation since June 2024. The group called on Chief Minister Lalduhoma and Agriculture Minister P.C. Vanlalruata to take urgent action and clarify the issue.

On 28 October, the Chinland Defence Force (CDF-Hakha) imposed a night curfew in Hakha town from 29 October 2025 to 31 January 2026, restricting movement between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am. The measure aims to protect civilians amid increased junta night raids and arbitrary arrests disguised as election preparations.

29 October 2025 

On 29 October, around 100 troops from the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) under Light Infantry Battalion 269 (LIB-269), stationed in Tedim town, Chin State, reportedly returned to Tedim after departing the previous morning for Tonzang town. According to CDF-Tonzang leader Mr. Zo Mu Mung, the troops turned back at Mawngken village, about five miles from Tedim town, and did not proceed to Tonzang town.

On 29 October, a battle broke out this afternoon between a SAC military column (estimated 200 troops) and Chin revolutionary forces on Kalay-Taingen road, Tedim township, Chin State. An engagement began before the SAC column reached Mualpi village, Tedim township, while marching towards Taingen. Battle and casualty details are currently unavailable.

On 29 October, over 30,000 civilians from 36 villages along the Kalay-Gangaw road in southern Kalay township, Sagaing Region, urgently needed food aid. These IDPs are fleeing an ongoing SAC offensive, which began around 27 October with significant troop reinforcements. Aid groups, like Lighthouse, confirm intense fighting and the displacement of at least 30,000 people. The SAC’s offensive is seen as a desperate attempt to regain control of the Kalay-Gangaw and Kalay-Tamu roads from revolutionary forces before a planned election.

On 29 October, the Chinland Defence Force-Thantlang (CDF-Thantlang), Department of Education, indefinitely closed all schools in Thantlang township, Chin State, due to the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) repeatedly targeting educational facilities with aerial bombings. The CDF-Thantlang stated the closure is necessary as SSPC soldiers are “dropping bombs daily on residential buildings and schools.” The Chin State Ministry of Education declared that the international community must severely punish the SSPC for these deliberate aerial bombings against innocent civilians, students, and teachers.

On 29 October, Chinland Defence Force (CDF-Asho) announced that member Mr. Salai Ar Shel Pa was killed in action on 28 October while serving on the frontline. The group praised his courage and vowed to continue the revolutionary struggle in his honour.

30 October 2025 

On 30 October, the Chin National League for Democracy (CNLD) confirmed that four individuals currently running in Myanmar’s elections are no longer associated with the party. The CNLD stated that Mr. No Than Kap resigned in May 2021. Furthermore, Mr. Zozam, Mr. Salai Nhagepi, and Mr. Van Hmun Lian were dismissed later that same year due to violations of party principles. The party itself was subsequently deregistered by the junta’s election commission after refusing to reapply.

On 30 October, fighting intensified along the Tedim-Kalay road as local defence groups clashed with SAC troops near Tedim town and Taingen village. PDF-Zoland ambushed SAC troops in Sezang village, which had been deserted due to military movements. Additional clashes were reported near Vualvum village and the Tedim viewpoint. Reports indicated that over 270 SAC troops and two trucks left Tedim town the previous day and stayed overnight in Sezang village.

On 30 October, the Saw Township People’s Administration in Magway Region announced that it is actively pursuing justice for the rape and murder of a minor, Mr. Min Min Soe, which occurred in Saw township. The investigation is under the direct oversight of the National Unity Government and the Ministry of Home Affairs and Immigration. The Administration emphasised its diligent efforts to investigate the case thoroughly, formally file charges, bring the perpetrator to court, and ensure swift and effective legal action.

31 October 2025 —

On 31 October at around 8:30 am, the Kawlin Township People’s Administration Team warned residents of Kawlin township, Sagaing Region, to be cautious after the SAC military deployed “Spy Balloons” for reconnaissance, launched from Wuntho town side, sighted. These frequent, lower-altitude balloons capture clear images and gather intelligence slowly to locate revolutionary forces and large public gatherings. The silent, engine-less assets necessitate heightened vigilance from residents and travelers. The PAT noted the balloons’ advantages—closer electronic signal gathering, cost-effectiveness, low radar signature, and greater payload than satellites—but also their drawbacks: difficult control, vulnerability to targeting, weather, high visibility, and data loss risk.

On 31 October at around 11:22 am, SAC troops column that began its march from Aung Chan Thar village in southern Kalay township entered Than Po village, after burning villages along its route. The troops are reportedly heading toward the Kann Parr Ni’s camp and may continue their operation toward Gangaw township. Magway Region. 

General news updates in October: 

  • The SAC military has carried out continuous airstrikes along the Pon Taung–Pon Nya mountain range bordering Htilin and Pauk townships in Magway Region since 2 October, using jet fighters, Y-12 bombers, gyrocopters, and paramotors. Local sources reported strikes near villages and mountain areas, including Kyun Thone Kha and Seik Gyi Mountain, with multiple bomb drops from Y-12 aircraft. Casualty figures are still under investigation. 
  • In Myauk Khin Yan village, north of Gangaw township, Magway Region, SAC troops and Pyusawhti (Pro-SAC militia) carried out a drone strike that killed one man and injured three others, including a woman whose hand was severed. The attack, reportedly involving 60 mm mortar shells, struck near homes and was described by locals as the village’s first unprovoked assault. 
  • The Zotung Federal Council (ZFC) appealed for public support to repair roads connecting Gangaw, Zotung, and the Hakha–Matupi highway, Chin State, which have been damaged by landslides. The council warned of unstable sections and urged travellers to avoid these routes until repairs are completed.
  • Crop farms in Circle 5 of Kanpetlet township, Chin State, were reported heavily damaged by pests and heavy rains, causing severe food insecurity for nearly 5,000 residents across 34 villages. Each household’s 3–5-acre farm produced little to no harvest, with seeds and plants destroyed. Rice fields in other circles also showed reduced yields due to changing weather. Residents urgently need food assistance, agricultural support, and resources. The township council and CDF Kanpetlet have managed local administration and services since 2024.
  • Ongoing military airstrikes by SAC have targeted Matupi town, which is controlled by the Chin Defence Force-Matupi/Matupi Revolutionary Organisation (CDF-Matupi/MRO). These attacks have damaged civilian homes and caused widespread fear among residents. This incident is part of a broader escalation across Chin State, where the junta is consistently targeting civilian areas. Consequently, residents have fled their homes, seeking refuge in neighbouring villages and the Indian state of Mizoram.
