Junta’s troops force 15 civilians as guides in Tedim township

4 November 2025 – Fifteen residents of Suangpi village in Tedim township were reportedly detained and forced to act as guides by Myanmar’s military troops on the night of 3 November. 

The incident where the villagers were forcibly used as human shields occurred as State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) forces advanced from Tedim town towards Taingen village, according to local sources.

The troops, believed to be from Infantry Battalion 269 based in Tedim, divided into two groups, moving along the eastern and western slopes of Kennedy Mountain Peak. 

Villagers were arrested after one group of the troops entered Suangpi village. Their [villagers] current location remains unconfirmed.

There have been armed clashes taking place between Myanmar’s military soldiers and local defence groups near the Taingen area since 30 October 2025.This action marks a concerning development in the ongoing operations by Myanmar’s military junta in the region. – Reporting by Benjamin
