1 June 2025 –

On 1 June, the SAC advancing towards Chin State from Kalay town of Sagaing Region reportedly set fire and destroyed civilians’ houses in Mualpi village, Tedim township, according to Chinland Defence Forces. Mualpi Village, 70 households, is located along the Kalay-Taigen-Tedim road, 8 miles from Kalay Town. All residents fled their homes into hiding.

2 June 2025 – 

On 2 June, SAC-controlled schools reopened in Hakha, Tedim, and Khaikam towns. In Hakha, SAC-run high schools, BEHS 1-4, and more than ten private schools restarted, with higher attendance from locals and displaced persons. A parent remarked, “All schools are open with more students this year.” Before the coup, Hakha had three private schools; now there are over ten. Basic High Schools in Tedim No. 1 and Khaikam also reopened. 

5 June 2025 –

On 5 June, Mr. Soe Win Naing, a 20-year-old refugee from Ti Baw village in Matupi township, Chin State, was electrocuted at his place of employment in Lawngtlai town, Mizoram State. 

On 5 June at around 11:30 pm, a 35-year-old woman in a house in Zaythit ward, Hakha town, died in a fire. The house was a two-storey wooden building behind Mr. Ram Cung’s kitchen, near the Catholic Church in the New Market Ward of Hakha town, Chin State. 

On 5 June, the Matupi Revolutionary Organisation (MRO/CDF) announced that the road had been damaged since the second week of May. It was expected to be impassable from 22 May to 5 June. However, continuous rains delayed repairs, resulting in the road being completely unusable from 6 June to 15 June.

On 5 June, Ms. H. Hmangaihtluangi, a 30-year-old domestic worker in Singapore, died after falling from a high-rise building. Her body will be transported to her hometown in Khampat, Tamu township, Sagaing Region. The Singapore police will conduct a postmortem examination after her body is found. 

6 June 2025 –

On 6 June, the Arakan Army (AA) enforced a strict ban on using Starlink in Paletwa township, Chin State. A resident reported that AA soldiers visited local villages and told residents not to install Starlink. 

On June 6 at approximately 5:30pm, a MiG-29 jet fighter originating from the Magway Air Force Base reportedly conducted an airstrike on a location within Mindat town, dropping two bombs, according to a local resident. At the time of reporting, the extent of damage or casualties resulting from the airstrike cannot be confirmed.

7 June 2025 –

On 7 June, a Chin UFC fighter Joshua Van, aged 23, secured a third-round TKO win against Brazilian Bruno Silva in the flyweight division at UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey. Van controlled the fight from the start, effectively countering Silva’s early low kicks and strong right jab with accurate punches, resulting in a knockdown in the first round. 

8 June 2025 –

On 8 June 2024, SAC troops destroyed the Mansawng Bridge on the India-Myanmar border trade route, disrupting the transport of goods to the Manipur River. With the road destroyed, trucks cannot use alternative routes, leading to shortages of border supplies. A driver said, “During the rainy season, trucks can only use this road. The other is a dirt road, unusable then. Only passenger cars can use it. We drivers are in trouble.”

9 June 2025 –

On 9 June, CNF/CNA and allies attacked and seized a ZRA camp in Mualkawi village, Chin State. The hour-long battle killed two ZRA members. Forces confiscated a vehicle, three drones, two motorcycles, a generator, four rifles, ammo boxes, extra ammo, and other items.

10 June 2025 –

On 10 June at about 12:13 pm, the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in Pale township, Sagaing Region, shot down a SAC jet fighter supporting the capture of Gangaw township. 

11 June 2025 –

Bigger trucks and lorries are not allowed to use main roads in parts of Falam township, mostly an area controlled by the CDF-Hualngoram in an effort to at least maintain the road conditions from getting worse as the rainy season has slowly started. The Hualngo People’s Organization said that the announcement would be in effect from 11 June to the end of October, especially during the rainy season.

12 June 2025 –

On 12 June, the People’s Administration of Interim Mindat township announced that 10 people were killed and 20 injured due to an airstrike by SAC after revolutionary forces recaptured Mindat township. The statement said that at least 18 airstrikes were carried out from January to 11 June 2025. And more than 100 buildings, including religious and government department buildings, were damaged due to the SAC airstrikes. SAC’s airstrikes destroyed 11 religious buildings and 71 civilian buildings, and 26 departmental buildings. 

13 June 2025 –

On 13 June, the SAC military deployed a Y-8 aircraft to drop around 30 supply boxes in Thantlang town, Chin State. Local defence groups believe these supplies mainly included weapons and ammunition, probably to reinforce SAC forces in the conflict-affected region. 

On 13 June, Mr. Sang Ceu Lian, also known as Aabik, has been missing since 10 June after leaving his home at Yadanar Mon near the San Chaung Wa checkpoint in Yangon around 9:00 am. His whereabouts remain unknown. Aabik completed a 40-day prayer fast in April and has been eating three to four meals daily since then.

15 June 2025 –

On 15 June, the Champhai Branch of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) instructed Mr. Vum Deih Lian, a Myanmar refugee living in Helipad Ward, New Champhai, to return to Myanmar due to his disruptive behaviour, drunkenness, and use of weapons.

On 15 June at about 7 pm, three SAC’s jet fighters from Tada U Air Force Base conducted six airstrikes on Mindat town. As of now, any casualties resulting from the airstrikes remain unconfirmed because of the unstable internet and phone lines

On 15 June, HPO/CDF-Hualngoram declared a State of Emergency in the Hualngoram region to maintain law and order in Falam township, Chin State. The declaration came into effect from 16 June and will last until further notice.

On 15 June, SAC troops carried out widespread arrests of youths in Kalay town, Sagaing Region, focusing on the Tahan and Hmunlai wards. Residents reported that SAC troops, arriving in ambulances instead of SAC vehicles, detained anyone on the streets after dark. They also noted increased vehicle patrols and checkpoints, urging caution.

16 June 2025 –

On 16 June, the Lautu Region Peoples Administration (LRPA) forbade the installation and use of Wi-Fi in the Lautu area without prior approval. The LRPA clarified that setting up or using Wi-Fi equipment for personal reasons requires permission, and its use for commercial purposes is strictly prohibited. All installations and usage must follow the guidelines issued by the LRPA. 

On 16 June, residents of Kalay reported that SAC troops were conducting arrests of young people in Kalay town, Sagaing Region. The troops, who are reportedly using ambulances instead of official SAC vehicles, are said to be apprehending individuals on the streets after dark. Residents also noted an increase in patrolling and vehicle checks, advising caution.

17 June 2025 –

On 17  June, KWHRO (Kuki Women’s Human Rights Organisation) supported food items and cash to Myanmar refugees at two border sites along the India-Myanmar border. They provided rice, oil, and salt, with each household receiving 3,000 rupees. The Kuki women mentioned helping more than 70 refugee families from Myanmar at these locations.

18 June 2025 –

On 18 June, in an Voice of Chin (VOC) interview, Chin Brotherhood spokesperson Salai Yaw Mang said Paletwa is part of Chin State, despite reports of the Arakan Army (AA) designating it as Rakhine State. He stated, “All Chin State groups believe Paletwa is Chin State. The AA and the whole country know this.”

On 18 June, a source in the Chin State SAC said that Chief Minister Dr. Vong Suan Thang, Minister of Roads and Communications and former SAC officer Nay Lin Aung, and SAC strategist Soe Win Htun are demanding hundreds of thousands of kyats in bribes to win most of the State SAC tenders in Chin State. 

On 18 June at around 1:30 am, heavy artillery fired by SAC hit and exploded in Tahan and Hmunlai neighborhoods of Kalay town in Sangaing Region. The local residents said that some houses were damaged when shells were fired. SAC column advancing from Kalay to south of Chin State is engaged in battle with CNF/A and Chin Defense Forces near Hiangzing village in Tedim Township in Chin State. 

19 June 2025 –

On 19 June, the Chinland Council’s Constitution was amended, leading to a reduction in the number of Chin National Front (CNF) representatives in the council. The original 2023 Constitution envisioned a council comprising 27 Chin Hluttaw members from the 2020 election, 27 CNF members, and 86 township and regional representatives. The revision now specifies 27 Chin Hluttaw members from 2020, 15 CNF members, and eight representatives from each township, with no separate regional representation. The council has been restructured to include five representatives from each township and three from each region. As a result, CNF’s representation has been reduced to 12.

20 June 2025 –

On 20 June, the Central Young Mizo Association (CYMA) gathered with Myanmar refugee leaders in Mizoram to discuss their situation. The CYMA Secretary warned that refugees involved in drug trafficking or other criminal activities could face legal action and advised them against trying to acquire Indian citizenship documents like Aadhaar, EPIC, or Driving Licences. Instead, refugees are advised to use the temporary refugee ID cards provided by the government.

21 June 2025 –

On 21 June, Mr. Lulu, aged 25, sheltering in an IDP camp on the Indian border, went to Tamu in Sagaing Region and has been missing. A source says he left the camp that morning, claiming he was going shopping in Tamu. Lulu, who occasionally rides a motorcycle, may have gone missing between Myoma (14) and Chaungnektgyi and Kuntaung village after shopping. 

On 21 June, one member of the SAC was killed and another was captured alive in an attack on the SAC base in Ngape Township, Magway region, Asho-Chin Defence Force (ACDF). 

22 June 2025 –

On 22 June at around 4 pm, SAC’s jet fighter bombed the Khaikam Elephant Camp, a recreation camp about 5 miles from Khaikam town in Tedim township, Chin State, killing a 16-year-old young elephant keeper and seriously injuring a woman. The nearby suspension bridge over the Kwechaung River was not damaged.

On 22 June at around 11:19 am, SAC jet fighters from Naypyidaw Air Force Base launched an airstrike on a location in Matupi Township. SAC’s MiG-29 from Tada-U Air Force Base carried out a total of two airstrikes in Tonzang Township at around 4:50 to 5:00 pm.

23 June 2025 –

On 23 June, the Arakan Army (AA) distributed rice to hundreds of Rakhine State migrants in Paletwa township, Chin State, who lacked work and food, according to AA sources. Ah Baung Wa and Sin Oe Wa villages donated 30 boxes of rice and milk to each Rakhine IDP, amounting to 27 bags of rice and 18 bags of milk for nearly 200 people. 

On 23 June, SAC dropped two bombs near Laithankone, also known as Thangmual, along the Kalay-Tedim road in Tedim Township, Chin State. Local sources reported that SAC has been bombing places like churches, schools and public places.

24 June 2025 –

On 24 June, the New Champhai Branch of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) instructed Mr. Lalhmachhuana, aged 37, and Mr. Mangkarthanga, aged 20, from Falam township, Chin State, to leave Mizoram by 24 June 2025 (Tuesday) due to incidents of drunken rioting and armed robbery on the night of 22 June 2025. 

On 24 June, Dr. Lalngura Tlau, District Administrator of Saitual, convened a meeting with officials regarding refugee biometric registration. Saitual hosts 211 Myanmar refugees and 244 from Manipur. The Ministry of Home Affairs plans nationwide biometric registration for refugees. Mizoram will implement this programme in Saitual areas with displaced persons, following the directives of the Home Minister.

25 June 2025 –

On 25 June, Mr. Lalhmangaihzuala, aged 25, from Kalay town in Sagaing Region, was detained at Zokhawthar village on the India-Myanmar border in Mizoram after heroin was found in a bag of beans. Authorities examined his bag and recovered 142 grams of heroin stored in 12 soap bottles, valued at 4.26 lakh rupees.

26 June 2025 –

On 26 June, a displaced person reported that the IDP camp with 50 houses in Tamu town, Sagaing Region, was flooded by rising waters of the Yuchaung River after heavy rain. “The water rose suddenly, submerging our area. People fled, leaving belongings behind. Rice, paddy, goods, tractors, and buffaloes were lost. We are still compiling a detailed damage report,” IDPs told Zalen. 

27 June 2025 –

On 27 June, HPO/CDF-Hualngoram seized 270,000 grams of methamphetamine valued at 5.6 million rupees in Rihkhawdar village, Falam township, Chin State. Mr. Mang, aged 44, was detained for transporting drugs using 125 bicycles. CDF-Hualngoram authorities confirmed that Mang was presented in court on legal charges. 

28 June 2025 –

On 28 June, the Chin National Army and allies clashed with SAC troops at Mualpi village, Tedim township, Chin State, a conflict that has been ongoing since 24 June. SAC forces have been firing from Kalay town, and both Mr. Ha Kalay of CNA and Mr. Thang Sian Khia of CDF-Siyin lost their lives defending their country.

30 June 2025 –

On 30 June, the Mindat Township People’s Administration issued a notice focusing on the protection of natural resources and the preservation of environmental integrity. This initiative is part of broader efforts to restore the rule of law, stability, peace, security, and justice, as well as to facilitate urban reconstruction and improve public services.

General news updates in June:

  • Tedim residents report that the Kalay-Taingen road has been closed for a month due to ongoing conflict, leading to shortages in Tedim township, Chin State. Supplies from Kalay town in Sagaing Region are more challenging to reach, with a bag of rice now costing over 150,000 kyats. One resident stated, “Transportation is challenging, prices have increased, and shortages have worsened. The poor road condition further hampers transport.”
  • SAC’s Tamu town bank runs out of cash, delaying staff salaries since the 2021 SAC coup. Banks face shortages, with wages paid late via SAC huskies due to transport risks. No money or a helicopter arrived this month, leaving workers unpaid. Employees fear hunger, as 200,000 kyats won’t cover basic needs, and SAC cannot pay June wages. 
  • Recent bad weather with heavy rainfalls caused landslides and mudslides, destroying roads from Matupi town to Mindat town, Rezua town and Tinlawng village. These have caused challenges in cars reaching villages and also for villagers to travel from one place to another.
  • Local defence groups under Chinland Council, Chin Brotherhood, and People Defence Force (PDF) have attacked the SAC’s troops that advanced into the area of the northern part of Chin State. Over the past two days of clashes, the Chin Cooperative Forces captured two SAC posts in Mualpi village. SAC launched this operation from Kalay in the third week of May. They aimed to reinforce positions and carry out counterattacks to retake areas such as Falam town, which are now in Chin Brotherhood’s Control.
  • SAC is also conducting large-scale operations in southern parts of Chin State. SAC troops are moving from Pakokku in Magaw Region into Chin State, similar to their operation from Kalay in the northern part of Chin State. These offensives are aimed at retaking towns and villages previously lost.
