Joyful Reunion For Chin Family And Two Missing Sons In The US
Two Chin teenagers, Tial Thawng and his younger brother, Hniang Nawl Thang, who were missing for a week in the US, have been found and reunited with their family in Alhambra city, California State on Wednesday, 29 April.
The 14-year-old and his 11-year-old brother were found, after a week-long search, in a deserted house by a team of builders who went there for renovation. The police, informed by the builders, brought the two brothers to their family home around 3pm last Wednesday.
“We are overjoyed when my two sons came home after this stressful search. They are in good health and condition. Words can not express our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to everyone for their support, comfort, help and prayers,” Mr. Tial Kam, father of the two brothers, told Chinland Guardian.
“The school principal also knew about what had happened to our sons and a special programme has been arranged in place to help them cope with their courses. We take this is a blessing in disguise,” said a 40-year-old father of five, adding their prayers had been answered.
A week-long disappearance of the two teenage runaways has been ascribed to depression resulting from the difficulties they found in keeping up with their new courses and adjusting themselves to the new system of the city the family recently moved to.
The two brothers, who came along with their family as Burmese refugees to the US under Malaysia-based UNHCR resettlement programme in 2007, left Burma for Malaysia while the elder was in the fourth standard of SPDC-ruined Burmese education system. The younger brother did not go to school properly while in Burma.
