Two Burmese Women Sentenced to Death for Drug Trafficking

30 March 2012, KUALA LUMPUR – Two Burmese women and two Malaysian men were sentenced to death by hanging by a local High Court on Thursday after they were found guilty of drug trafficking three years ago.

Malaysia National News Agency reported that High Court justice, Datuk Ghazali Cha, concluded that the accused had failed to raise any reasonable doubt on the prosecution’s case.

“Their defense is illogical and hard to believe. Furthermore, there is no basis to disbelieve the credibility of the prosecution’s witnesses,” Ghazali said.

Ambiya Mohamad, 40, and Arafah Abu, 30, and two locals, Lim Siau Seng, 32, and K. Vigneswaran, 27, were in tears once the sentence was read.
