Myanmar’s junta carries out multiple airstrikes on Kanpetlet township

13 July 2026 — State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) fighter jets and a Y-12 bomber aircraft carried out multiple airstrikes on Kanpetlet township in Chin State on 13 July.

Local sources reported that a fighter jet from Tada-U Air Base conducted two bombing runs at around 5:50 pm, dropping a total of four bombs on a location in eastern Kanpetlet township.

The same sources said a Y-12 bomber from Tada-U Air Base subsequently carried out four bombing runs, dropping bombs in clusters of three and four. The aircraft was reported to be continuing operations over the area.

Later in the evening, at approximately 8:37 pm and 8:42 pm, another fighter jet from Aela Air Base in Naypyitaw carried out two additional bombing runs near Kanpetlet town, dropping four bombs.

Meanwhile, local sources reported that the Tada-U-based Y-12 bomber continued striking the eastern part of Kanpetlet township, increasing its total to five bombing runs using clusters of three bombs.

Information on casualties and damage was not immediately available. The reported airstrikes could not be independently verified. – Reporting by Ben
