12 July 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military has continued reinforcing its positions in Kyaukhtu and surrounding areas of Saw township, Magway Region, while troop columns advance toward southern parts of Chin State.
Local sources said troops who spent the night in Kyauk Tan Khar village, together with a vehicle carrying drones, reached Pon Taung on the morning of 12 July. After linking up with advance units already positioned there, the combined force of more than 150 troops reportedly continued advancing toward Ta Pyin village.
Meanwhile, a military convoy of more than 30 vehicles carrying approximately 400 troops from the 99th Light Infantry Division (LID 99), which spent the previous night near Kan Pyar village, resumed its journey toward KaPaSa 25 (Directorate of Defence Industries Factory No. 25) in Laung She township on Saturday morning.
Local sources also reported increased military activity at the Kyaukhtu military base, where troops were seen travelling in two military trucks toward the Gon Bo Ward area.
In addition, around 100 SSPC troops, including military personnel and allied militia members, were reportedly deployed to reinforce positions near Kan Gyi and Ye Shin villages.
At around 10:00 am, a Y-8 military transport aircraft carried out an aerial resupply operation at the Kyaukhtu military base, dropping more than 70 parachute bundles containing ammunition and food supplies. – Reporting by Ben
