8 July 2026 – Residents returning to Falam town in Chin State received food supplies, solar kits, and water supply materials on 7 July through a humanitarian assistance program organized by the Falam Christian Ministers’ Fellowship (FCMF) and local civil society organizations (CSOs).
The assistance was funded by donations from Falam town residents both inside Myanmar and abroad.
A total of 687 households were prioritized to receive food packages containing a bag of rice (about 13.04 kg), beans, cooking oil, and salt, valued at approximately 40,000 Kyats each. An additional 16 households, selected by local churches and community leaders, received food assistance free of charge.
To help address electricity shortages, 279 households purchased solar kits worth 160,000 Kyats each at a subsidized price of 50,000 Kyats.
Another 21 solar kits were distributed free of charge to churches, offices, and selected vulnerable households. Households without electricity are currently being prioritized.
Work is also underway to expand Falam town’s drinking water pipeline network. Once additional pipeline materials arrive, PVC water pipes will be distributed to households according to their needs.
Organizers said households that have not yet received assistance will be included in future rounds of aid distribution. – Reporting by Daniel
