28 May 2026 – A military transport helicopter belonging to the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) was spotted landing in Falam and Tedim towns in Chin State this morning.
The Mi-17 transport helicopter, originating from the IB 89 base in Kalay town, Sagaing Region, departed at approximately 9:56 am and arrived in Falam town at 10:00 am. It subsequently departed Falam at 10:16 am and concluded its sequence by landing in Tedim town at 10:21 am.
The purpose of the military flight remains under investigation by local media, with The Surbung Times reporting that it is still seeking further details regarding the landing in the two towns.
The military’s presence in Falam and Tedim towns comes amid a volatile security situation and intensified operations across Chin State and the broader region.
Recent reports indicate that the junta has intensified heavy Y-12 airstrikes on Kanpetlet town and launched multiple intense air assaults on the resistance-held town of Matupi.
Heavy fighting is also ongoing in the Kyaukhtu area, where local villagers have been forced to flee amid ongoing arson attacks on civilian houses.
Despite the active conflict, SSPC authorities and soldiers are reportedly pushing to reopen basic education schools in Falam town. – Reporting by Daniel
