20 May 2026 – Large State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) troop convoys and allied Pyusawhtee (pro-SSPC militia) were moving through Seikphyu, Pauk, and Saw areas in Magway Region, raising security concerns among local residents.

According to local sources, around 800 SSPC troops and Pyusawhtee members, along with more than 30 vehicles, left Seikphyu and stayed overnight on 19 May near the four-way junction connecting Pauk, Seikphyu, and the Pathein-Monywa road.

On the morning of 20 May, the convoy reportedly entered the Yagyi Pyin Pyusawhtee compound in eastern Pauk and later moved west after crossing Ountaw Bridge. Sources said the convoy was believed to be heading toward KaPaSa-24 in Pauk Township.

Military columns near Ta Pyin and the western side of Pon Taung reportedly remained in place without major movement. Residents believed they were waiting for the convoy to arrive. Increased military aircraft activity was also reported on 20 May, and local civilians were warned to remain cautious.

Meanwhile, residents in Saw town said SSPC troops previously deployed around the town had returned to their bases, allowing civilians to move around again. However, many shops remained closed, and public movement was still low because of security concerns.

Troops temporarily stationed in Saw before moving toward Kanpetlet reportedly remained near their previous locations. Military units near Ta Pyin and Ngalun villages were also said to still be deployed nearby without significant movement.

Earlier on 19 May, local sources reported that more than 800 SSPC troops, allied Pyusawhtee members gathered in Seikphyu from military bases in Meiktila, Pakokku, and Kyaukpadaung had continued moving northward. The convoy reportedly included infantry units and more than 30 vehicles, including a tractor. – Reporting by Ben
