16 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out an airstrike on Kanpetlet town in Chin State in the evening today.
Initial reports indicate that the attack occurred at around 5:30 pm when an SSPC fighter jet from the Tada-U Air Base in Mandalay dropped two bombs on the town.
Local sources said one bomb landed near the BCM Church, while the location of the second bomb has not yet been confirmed. Information regarding casualties and damage is still being verified as investigations continue.
The latest airstrike came just days after previous aerial attacks on Kanpetlet town on 12 May. During those incidents, SSPC fighter jets carried out two bombing raids, while Y-12 aircraft conducted six additional bombardments using cluster-style bomb drops, according to local sources. – Reporting by Ben
