15 May 2026 – The Falam Pawlpi Falam has issued a global appeal for assistance to support the return and resettlement of displaced residents in Falam town and surrounding villages in Chin State.
According to the FPF, more than 6,000 people were forced to flee Falam town over the past two years due to insecurity, primarily relocating to Kalay town in Sagaing Region and other safer areas. With conditions now becoming more conducive for return, preparations are underway to facilitate the resettlement of displaced communities.
The FPF said urgent funding is needed for transportation and basic resettlement support, particularly for residents from approximately 30 nearby villages expected to return. It estimates costs of 15,000,000 Kyats for transportation (two vehicles) and 50,000,000 Kyats for 500 bags of rice to support returning families during the initial resettlement period.
The appeal calls on Falam people worldwide, including those in China, Macau, Korea, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Dubai, and Oman, to contribute and share the request. Donations may be made via designated contact channels, including online transfers.
The FPF emphasized that the assistance is intended to help displaced families stabilize during their return and early resettlement phase. – Reporting by Daniel
