13 May 2026 – The Chin Refugee Committee-Malaysia (CRC Malaysia) has announced that UFC Flyweight World Champion Joshua “The Fearless” Van will be the guest of honor at its 25th Anniversary (Silver Jubilee) celebration in Kuala Lumpur on 27 May 2026.
CRC Malaysia called the champion’s participation a “major honor” and a source of pride for the Chin community worldwide, recognizing his role in bringing international attention to the Chin people.
The event, which will also feature popular Myanmar singer Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein as a special guest performer, is an invitation to Chin refugees and community members across Malaysia.
Van’s appearance in Malaysia is part of a regional tour in May that will include stops in Thailand and India’s Mizoram State, where he is scheduled to attend the MISMA event in Aizawl on 30 May.
The visit holds particular significance as Van has stated in recent media interviews that he is currently unable to visit his home country due to the ongoing conflict and instability in Myanmar.
The conflict has resulted in military offensives, airstrikes, and widespread displacement in Chin State, reinforcing the importance of his engagement with the Chin refugee community abroad. He expressed hope to meet with Chin communities in Malaysia and Thailand during this tour.
The celebration is scheduled to take place at SJKC Chung Kwo on Jalan Loke Yew, from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm. – Reporting by Daniel
