13 May 2026 – State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) forces have occupied Dokthek village in Falam township, advancing along Falam-Hakha Road.
The occupation followed a drone bombing attack on 11 May. Clashes with local defence groups are ongoing around the village, forcing residents to flee the area.
The latest offensive comes amid escalating conflicts across Chin State, which have caused thousands of civilians to flee their homes in Tonzang and other strategic areas. The fighting in the Falam area is part of a broader conflict that has seen the SSPC rely on frequent, indiscriminate air and drone attacks.
On 12 May, SSPC troops stationed in nearby Ramthlo village received critical logistics, including more than 20 air-dropped shipments of food and ammunition from a Y-12 aircraft. Ramthlo village is situated at the foot of Zinghmuh mountain and has frequently been targeted by airstrikes.
The repeated violence has deeply impacted the local population. “We do not know how long we will have to keep fleeing. I am especially worried about the elderly and children in our family,” a displaced local woman stated.
This is not the first time Dokthek has been targeted. SSPC troops previously burned the village in March 2022, destroying 19 homes. Several villages along the Falam-Hakha Road were also abandoned during earlier military operations in October 2021. – Reporting by Daniel
