SSPC multiple airstrikes in southern Kyaukhtu area

13 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) launched multiple airstrikes on areas in the southern part of Kyaukhtu, Yaw region this morning.

Three junta fighter jets including two aircraft from Tada-U Air Base and one from Magway Air Base  carried out around six aerial attacks targeting locations south of Kyaukhtu between 8:06 am and 8:17 am, according to initial reports.

Local sources also reported that a Y-12 bomber aircraft continued bombing the surrounding areas using cluster-style bomb drops. As of the latest reports, the aircraft had conducted at least four bombing runs.

Artillery shelling reportedly began around 9:00 am from Artillery Battalion 368 based in Kyaukhtu. Sources stated that the military continued firing heavy weapons throughout the morning, including dual-stage artillery shells. At least three artillery rounds had reportedly been fired, and further shelling remained possible.

Residents in Kyaukhtu township and nearby Yaw areas were urged to remain highly alert, avoid unnecessary travel, and take safety precautions due to ongoing threats from airstrikes, artillery attacks, and continued military activity.

Local sources also warned that air activity remained intense throughout the day, raising concerns over possible additional airstrikes. – Reporting by Ben
