7 May 2026 – State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) forces carried out a series of airstrikes near Kyaukhtu in Saw township, Yaw region of Magway Region, on the evening of 7 May, according to local sources.

Initial reports from local media outlet, Yaw Atlinn Tan, stated that a jet fighter departing from Magway Air Base launched three aerial strikes on areas near Kyaukhtu at around 5:45 pm.

A second jet fighter reportedly arrived at around 5:54 pm and carried out additional bombing raids, while also firing Point-5 machine guns indiscriminately toward the ground.

The SSPC forces used at least two jet fighters to conduct no fewer than six aerial attacks, including bombings and rocket fire, targeting areas around Kyaukhtu town.

At the time of reporting, details regarding casualties and damage remained unclear, with local sources continuing to monitor and verify the situation.

Amid concerns over possible further air operations in the Yaw region, residents have been urged to remain alert and take precautions against potential airstrike threats. – Reporting by Ben
