5 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) conducted multiple airstrikes in villages along the Mindat–Yaw border area in Kyaukhtu township, Magway Region, beginning in the afternoon of 5 May, according to local sources.
A local media outlet, Yaw Atlinn Tan, reported that at least nine airstrikes were conducted by five jet fighters starting from around 1:30 pm. The first strike occurred at approximately 1:38 pm, followed by another at 2:01 pm. At around 2:13 pm, five bombs were reportedly dropped in a single wave.
Further attacks included the firing of three rockets at around 2:22 pm, followed by additional bombing runs between 2:37 pm and 2:41 pm. In total, no fewer than nine airstrike incidents were recorded during this period.
Details regarding casualties and damage remain under verification.
Due to ongoing security risks, local sources have issued warnings urging residents to remain alert and take precautionary measures. Civilians are advised to seek immediate shelter in secure bunkers or safe locations upon hearing aircraft, avoid large gatherings, and closely monitor local information updates.
