4 May 2026 – Heavy fighting has continued in Tedim township, Chin State, since 2 May, as State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) forces clashed with Chin allied resistance groups near Thangmual Hill and Akluai village.
The conflict intensified after resistance forces, including PDF-Zoland and CDF-CDM-Siyin, intercepted a column of approximately 200 SSPC troops advancing from Kalay town to reinforce Tedim.
The military has responded with a sustained campaign of heavy artillery and air power. Local sources report that aircraft conducted multiple bombing runs on 3 and 4 May, dropping at least six bombs in the Thangmual Hill area, while artillery units based in Kalay and Tedim provided continuous fire support.
Strategic objectives remain at the center of the escalation, with the SSPC military reportedly attempting to seize the Kennedy Hill base currently held by resistance forces.
The violence has taken a heavy toll on civilians, with 13-year-old Lian Muan Kim killed on 2 May by shrapnel when an artillery shell struck near a petrol station at the entrance to Tedim town, and an attack that also left his brother injured.
This surge in fighting follows a broader pattern of military aggression across Chin State. In April 2026, an SSPC air raid in Falam township claimed the lives of seven civilians, including six children, and destroyed several homes. – Reporting by Daniel
