24 March 2026 — T State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out a series of airstrikes along the border between Htilin township and Gangaw township in the Yaw area, Magway Region on Tuesday.
Initial reports from local media, including Yaw Atlinn Tan, said the first strike occurred at around 1:22 pm, when four fighter jets dropped at least six 500-pound bombs near Maw Lel junction and surrounding areas. One bomb reportedly struck the junction directly, while others landed nearby.
Witnesses also reported that several rockets were fired during the attacks.
A second wave of attacks followed at approximately 2:43 pm, when two additional jets dropped at least two 300-pound bombs on the same location.
No active clashes were reported in the area at the time of the strikes, raising concerns among residents about the targeting of civilian-populated areas.
Preliminary information indicates that at least five local men were injured, although the full extent of casualties and damage remains unconfirmed due to limited access and ongoing security risks.
The Yaw region in Magway Region has experienced increasing instability in recent months, with frequent airstrikes reported despite limited ground fighting. Local sources have urged residents to remain alert and take precautions amid the risk of further aerial attacks. – Reporting by Ben
