Three-wheeler driver in Lawngtlai to be honored by Mizoram Chief Minister

12 March 2026 — Mr. Henry Lalhmingmuana, a three-wheeler driver from Ward 3, Lawngtlai, Mizoram State, will be recognised by the Chief Minister of Mizoram for returning 1,500,000 rupees (approximately 7.5 million kyat) left behind by a Burmese traveller from Rakhine State, Myanmar.

The Chapchar Kut Organising Committee 2026, under the Government of Mizoram’s Directorate of Art & Culture, selected Henry for his honesty, integrity, and civic responsibility.

He will be awarded a trophy, a certificate, and a cash prize of 100,000 rupees during the Chapchar Kut festival on 13 March  2026, at the official pavilion in Aizawl Lammual, starting at 10:30 am.

The incident occurred on 19 June 2025, when a trader from Rakhine State hired Henry’s auto rickshaw near HUSOP Hotel, Lawngtlai Bazaar (near Assam Rifles Camp). 

The trader left a bag containing 1,500,000 rupees in the vehicle. Henry returned the money to the traveller, earning recognition for his honesty and civic conduct. – Reporting by Ben
