SSPC carries out multiple airstrikes near Matupi

12 March 2026 —  The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out multiple airstrikes near Matupi town, Chin State, on Wednesday, according to local sources.

The initial report from Ĥkl Mindat stated that a jet fighter from Tada-U Air Base conducted an airstrike at around 4:10 pm on an area near the town. Later, at around 6:00 pm, another airstrike by a jet fighter was reported in the same area.

Details on casualties or damage have not yet been confirmed.

Residents reported that loud explosions were heard from Matupi town following the airstrikes. Earlier in the day, reconnaissance aircraft were observed flying over the area, raising concerns among local communities.

Local sources advised residents in areas where reconnaissance flights had been reported to remain cautious and stay alert.

Previously, on 27 February, the military conducted an airstrike on the former Light Infantry Battalion (LIB) 304 base in Matupi town. 

Matupi town was recaptured from the military by the Chin Brotherhood and allied resistance forces on 29 June 2024. – Reporting by Ben
