30 December 2025 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out at least two airstrikes on Tiphir and Zathlir villages in Falam township on 28 December 2025, which coincided with election day.

Jet fighters conducted aerial bombardments around 1 pm and 3 pm, each dropping a minimum of three bombs. The attacks resulted in damage to over 15 civilian structures, including a church building.

The full extent of the damage is currently unconfirmed. No casualties were reported, as villagers had evacuated their homes upon noticing the movement of SSPC troops toward the area.

A Falam community leader suggested that the SSPC utilized the airstrikes to clear a path for its ground troops advancing toward Falam town. A similar pattern of attack was observed in the village of Khuangli.

Zathlir, a village of approximately 50 households, is located about 15 miles from Falam town.

The village [Zathlir] had previously been subjected to shelling in December 2024 by the Myanmar junta during ongoing clashes with the local defence forces. That incident also resulted in property damage, but no casualties, as residents had evacuated.#
