11 November 2025 – An urgent request for medical assistance has been made following an outbreak of diarrhea that has affected at least 20 individuals sheltered near the India-Myanmar border, according to local community leaders.

The outbreak began last Saturday among approximately 410 households displaced from their villages due to conflict in Paletwa township, Chin State.

A community leader, speaking on condition of anonymity, described the escalating crisis to Chinland Guardian: “We are in a very difficult situation as the outbreak has spread very quickly among our people. We need urgent medical assistance and other support.”

The leader confirmed that at least 20 people have fallen ill, presenting with symptoms of severe diarrhea and vomiting. Tragically, the illness has claimed at least three lives: one woman aged 24 and two men aged 26 and 48, who died on Sunday and Monday.

While members of local non-governmental organizations (NGOs) have arrived to provide immediate support, the need for enhanced medical intervention remains critical, the leader added.

The shelter location is challenging to access, requiring a 5-6 hour journey by small motorboat (dinghy) from Paletwa town via waterway. -Reporting by Daniel
