28 October 2025 – The Chinland Defence Force (CDF-Hakha) announced today a night curfew for residents of Hakha town, effective from 29 October 2025 until 31 January 2026.
The curfew will be enforced daily between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am, during which residents are strictly prohibited from leaving their homes.
The decision comes in response to increased activities by Myanmar’s military junta, which the CDF-Hakha states has been conducting night raids on civilian houses under the guise of election preparations. These raids reportedly involve checking family documents and making arbitrary arrests.
Furthermore, the CDF-Hakha reports that SSPC’s military reinforcements are being deployed by helicopter across Chin State, including Hakha town.
CDF-Hakha has urged residents to remain vigilant and comply with the curfew, warning that violators will face action and that the group will not be responsible for any harm resulting from non-compliance during potential clashes.
A Hakha resident said: “The night curfew is actually not new to us. The SAC has imposed a 6pm-6am curfew for years and we have not gone out at night in a long time. Night church activities including prayer services and youth choir rehearsal sessions have all been stopped.”
The announcement also highlights an intensification of junta airstrikes in Chin State in recent weeks, coinciding with the approaching planned election.
Military reinforcements have reportedly been airlifted to Tedim and Hakha towns, while ground troops advance through the Siyin area.
The CDF-Hakha is appealing to the public for coordination and cooperation, indicating that measures will be taken against those who do not comply. – Reporting by Benjamin
