28 October 2025 – Myanmar’s military junta has deployed a significant number of reinforcements towards Tonzang town, advancing from Tedim town.

The movement began on the Tedim-Tonzang main road at approximately 8:30 am this morning.

Local sources have confirmed that troops from Light Infantry Battalion 269, based in Tedim, have reached Zalui bridge, located about 20 miles from Tonzang town on the Tedim-Tonzang main road.

It is widely believed that the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC), formerly known as the State Administration Council (SAC), aims to regain control of Tonzang. The town has been under the control of local defense forces, and its recapture is anticipated ahead of the upcoming elections scheduled for December 28, 2025.

Some local sources suggest that the Zomi Revolutionary Army (ZRA), an ally of the Myanmar military, will be involved in these military operations. Their objective is to retake Tonzang town, where the elections are planned to be held.

Tonzang town was previously captured by local defense forces from the ZRA and the Myanmar military in May 2024.

In recent days, the SSPC has reinforced troops in Tedim town, utilizing helicopters for transport.#
