30 September 2025 – The SAC military launched indiscriminate airstrikes on Paletwa town in Chin State around 12:30 pm yesterday, killing two civilian women and injuring 19 civilians.
The two women were identified as Thu Zar Win, 40, and Mya Mya Khin, 18, while most of those injured are in critical condition.
The jet fighter used by the Myanmar’s junta dropped 500-pound bombs near the General Hospital in the town, currently under the control of the Arakan Army, and the surrounding areas.
A Paletwa resident is quoted by the Kimo Media as saying that at least three 500-pound bombs were dropped in the town. One fell near the hospital, and the other two fell near the edge of the town outside. One was dropped at 12:30 pm, another about five minutes later, and the third at 12:40 pm. Two women died, adding, “Two women died. There are also many people injured and some of them are in critical condition.”
Another source said that the SAC bombardments included a ‘cluster bomb’, triggering several explosions near the hospital and its vicinity.
“Such attacks in the absence of armed conflicts in the areas and bombing public spaces and civilian sites should never happen as they intentionally violate international laws. The regime will continues those civilian attacks in the future and I would like to request all civilians to stay cautious and prepare bomb-proof shelters as much as possible to prevent from the future airstrikes by the military junta,” said Salai Pan Hight from KIMO Institute.
According to the Chin Human Rights Organization, SAC launched at least 94 airstrikes with over 280 bombardments in 2025 alone across Chin State.
The Arakan Army announced in January 2024 that Paletwa township of Chin State had been under their complete control following months of fighting against SAC troops. This has forced Chin residents to flee their homes as IDPs into other places inside Chin State and beyond including Yangon and parts of Mizoram State of India as refugees.#
