One dead, two injured in Kaladan boats collision
14 April 2015 — Two boats plying along Kaladan river between Paletwa, Chin State and Kyaukdaw, Arakan State collided around midnight last Saturday, killing one passenger and injuring two.
The accident took place near Hna-ma-dar village in Paletwa Township when a Honda boat, driven by U San Thein Htun, 26, from Hna-ma-dar, carrying seven passengers and another Honda with two passengers crashed into each other.
But the Pwe-wone Police Force said that the boat driven by Zaw Min, 31, from Paletwa, slammed into the other, which instantly sank, according to the Khumi Media Group.
Driver U San Thein Htun and one passenger, Maung Win Naing, 21, were injured and 34-year-old Maung Win Maung went missing in the river. His body was later found around 1pm on Sunday.
Those injured were taken to the Paletwa General Hospital.#
