Sites chosen for new colleges in Hakha
02 March 2015 — An official ceremony of planting a signboard to confirm plots of land for building two colleges in Hakha today took place on the hill of Artlangzau in the outskirts of the capital.
Aung Than Oo, director general from the Ministry of Education; Dr. Ba Maung, State minister of Social Affairs; Siang Mang, chairman of the Hakha Elders; and Ral Kham, Chairman of the Hakha Development Committee opened the event.
The locations are identified following Thein Sein’s visit last month during which he granted permission for construction of an arts and science college, and a teacher training college.
Oo was quoted by the Hakha Post as saying that the construction would start after inspections and careful examination of the locations by experts.
The two institutions will take up a total of 570 acres of adjacent areas on the hill, of which 450 acres will be for the arts and science colleges.#
