Chin singer won nationwide singing contest in Burma

11 January 2014: Lal Pan Dika, better known by his stage name Dika, received the first prize of an X Factor-style singing competition ‘Eain Mat Sone Yar’ in Burma.

The Chin singer from Tahan, Kalaymyo of Sagaing Region, became the winner in Season 7 after beating 7 contestants in the grand final held in Rangoon on 28 December 2013.

He said in an interview with the Chin World Media that he had started singing from Sunday School and that he had ascribed his success to church worship services.

He also said that he had tried his best but hadn’t expect to win the competition, adding: “I praise God for his blessings.”

When asked about how he managed to get involved in the singing competition, he said that he had been inspired by other contest programmes including the Melody World and that he had got the enrolment form with the help of his uncle.#
