Chin Female Boxer Won First Prize in Burma
23 December 2012: Chin boxer Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin received the first prize in a nationwide women’s boxing contest in Rangoon, Burma.
Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin was crowned the championship of the 54-kg women’s boxing competition at Theinbyu indoor-stadium yesterday, according to the Chin World Media.
The Chin boxer was qouted as saying that she promised to work harder in order to get more support from the Chin public in the future while thanking her Chin fans.
In August last year, Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin won the first prize of the boxing tournament held by Myanmar Boxing Federation at Theinbyu Stadium in the former capital.
Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin participated in boxing tournaments in Burma and abroad including the Southeast Asian Games and the Women’s Junior and Youth World Championships in Turkey.
Born to Pu Than Ceu and Pi Hrang Nei Kil from Sadaw village, Kalaymyo of Sagaing region, Mai Nelly Bawi Nei Sin started her boxing career in 2009, the Chin World Media said.
U Yan Win, President of Myanmar Boxing Federation (MBF), opened the ceremony of Myanmar National Sports Committee Chairman’s Cup Boxing Competition 2012 held at Theinbyu indoor-stadium from 18-22 December.
