17 April 2026 – A State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military convoy that left Kalay town in Sagaing Region on 12 April is continuing its push toward Falam town, passing through Taingen village on the afternoon of 15 April, local sources say.
The convoy includes eight vehicles carrying around 100 troops and food supplies. It made a short stop in Taingen village, Tedim township before heading onward.
The movement forms part of a larger SSPC effort to retake Falam, with three coordinated columns now operating along the Kalay-Tedim-Falam road corridor.
Small outposts, each manned by 20-30 personnel, have been set up along the route, and at least six positions between Taingen and Lumbang villages have been reinforced.
Falam and much of northern Chin State have been under the control of Chin joint resistance forces since resistance operations intensified after the 2021 military takeover. SSPC attempts to regain the strategic town and the key road link have escalated since late 2025, triggering repeated ground clashes.
Both sides have reported casualties in the fighting. Chin resistance groups say the SSPC is depending heavily on air support, drones and aerial resupply to sustain its offensive.
On the same day the convoy reached Taingen, Chin joint forces captured a strategic hilltop SSPC base near Khuangli, according to resistance reports. SSPC airstrikes have also targeted areas around Falam in recent days as the fighting intensifies.
The corridor remains a focal point in the broader conflict in Chin State, where local defence groups continue to challenge SSPC control.#
