26 May 2012: Burma’s famous Chin actress Thet Mon Myint has donated a Landmark car for a Buddhist monastery in Falam and 170 solar electricity panels for Laizo village tracts in Falam Township, Chin State.

Her Burmese father U Myint Oo presented the donations on behalf of the family in a ceremony held at the USDP Hall (Union Solidarity and Development Party) in Falam, with about 25 people in attendance, according to the Chin World Media.

In an interview with the Lamzin journal, her father was quoted as saying by the Chin World Media that the family discussed about making more contributions for the Chin people in the future, adding: “We never forget Chinland. Thet Mon Myint cannot make a trip this time but she has got a plan to come.”

During his speech at the ceremony, U Myint Oo also said of their concern over water shortages facing the Chin locals in Falam town, saying his family would look into the issue.

Ms Thet Mon Myint aka Zung Cer Mawi won the best actress award for her leading role in the Burmese film ‘Adam, Eve and Datsa’ in February this year.

Born to a Chin mother and a Burmese father, the Buddhist Chin actress, from Falam of Chin State, achieved fame across the country after her photographic and acting debuts in promotional advertisements of cosmetic products in the late 1990s.
