31 March 2026 — The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) carried out an airstrike using two jet fighters in Gangaw township, Magway Region, on the evening of 31 March, according to local sources.
Initial reports from Yaw Alinn Tan state that the strike occurred at around 5:30 pm. Two jet fighters, believed to have departed from Tada-U Air Base, dropped bombs near Zee Pyar village in the southwestern part of Gangaw township.
As a result of the airstrike, one civilian who was travelling in the area sustained minor, non-life-threatening injuries. No fighting was reported at the time of the attack.
Earlier the same day, at around 11:30 am, SSPC conducted prolonged surveillance flights using UAV reconnaissance drones over villages on the western side of the Myittha River in Gangaw township.
Local sources warned that communities in these areas should remain on high alert due to the risk of further airstrikes. SSPC continued to carry out airstrikes in Gangaw township despite the absence of active clashes. – Reporting by Ben
