11 March 2011: Chin refugees stranded in Nu Po Refugee Camp celebrated the 63rd anniversary of Chin National Day on the Thai-Burma border, with contributions from Chin Youth Organisation USA (CYO) and friends from Norway and UK.
The celebration, organised by Chin National Association (CNA), was attended by about 350 people from the refugee camp on 20 February 2011. There are about 251 Chins currently sheltering in the camp, with 105 females and 57 children mostly under the age of 13.
As of last month, Nu Po Refugee Camp is home to an estimated 15,000 refugees from nine different ethnic groups from Burma, with the majority being Karen.
