21 May 2026 – The Chinland Defense Force-Hualngoram (CDF-Hualngoram) has announced temporary restrictions on the main road linking Laitui village and Rihkhawdar town in Falam township, Chin State, effective today.

The move, announced by the group’s War Office, is due to ongoing security operations in the Hualngoram area, limiting civilian traffic to two narrow windows each day.

Travel along the Rihkhawdar-Laitui road is permitted only between 6:00 am and 10:00 am and again from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

All movement, including pedestrians, vehicles, and motorcycles, is strictly prohibited outside these hours, with normal access to resume once the security operations are completed.

The CDF-Hualngoram urged local residents and travelers to comply with the road closures, warning that it would not be responsible for any consequences resulting from non-compliance.

The restrictions underscore the volatility in Chin State, where the CDF-Hualngoram is one of many local armed groups active since the 2021 military coup.

This specific area is part of the Falam-Kalay front, which has seen intense fighting and airstrikes, particularly by the State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military junta forces.

While the town of Falam itself came under the full control of revolutionary forces in April 2025, continued security operations are necessary due to the ongoing conflict.

The heightened security measures come as approximately 500 internally displaced persons (IDPs) have recently returned to Falam town, making road access a critical issue for the local population. – Reporting by Daniel
