15 May 2026 – The State Security and Peace Commission (SSPC) military forces and allied Zomi Revolutionary Army-Eastern Command (ZRA-EC) troops have reportedly launched a two-pronged offensive from Tedim and Cikha towns in an attempt to retake Tonzang town in Chin State.
According to local sources, a joint SSPC and ZRA-EC column that departed from Tedim town on 12 May has reached the Tungtuang area between Tedim and Tonzang towns. Since 13 May, the SSPC column has reportedly been exchanging drone attacks with Chin resistance allied forces.
Another ZRA-EC column advancing from Cikha town is said to have reached Mualkawi village, located between Cikha and Tonzang towns.
Tonzang town was captured by Chin defence forces on 23 May 2024, and has since been administered by the Chinland Defence Force-Tonzang (CDF-Tonzang) and the Tonzang Township Council.
Following the recapture of Falam town by SSPC military forces, more than 600 troops were reportedly deployed to Tedim town before launching the current operation alongside ZRA-EC forces to regain control of Tonzang town.
While no major ground clashes have yet been reported, both sides are said to be carrying out drone and aerial bombardment attacks. – Reporting by Daniel
